Has anyone ever used him to purchase a resale? I e-mailed him an offer more than two weeks ago; he responded the same day saying he would get in touch with the seller and I haven't heard from him since. I thought I would give him some time to get back to me as he did say the seller lives overseas; is two weeks enough time for him to have contacted the seller?

We used Lee Reid this fall and recently for a Resale and Add-on points with no problem. If we add-on Lee will be at the top of our list. I did have follow-up once to make sure he had received our offer initially. As good as email is there is a black hole in cyberspace that tends to gobble things up. Lee was good about finding what we wanted.

We used Lee for one of our resales and everything went fine. He is not as "hands on" (not as many calls or updates, most communication thru email) as some of the other resale agents, but he did a good job and we got a great price.

We used Lee for a resale purchase last summer. We had a few issues, but mainly with the closing company. Any contacts on updates were done by me to him. He is definitely not as "hands-on" as I had read of other companies, but in the end we did get the resale we wanted at a good price. When we made an offer, he responded the same day. The owners accepted the price the next day. I would try contacting him again to see what it going on. Good luck!

My two experiences with Lee were extremely disappointing. On one occasion, he had points listed by someone who had already sold such points to a family member. I wasted over a week waiting for him on that one. One the second occasion, he indicated that he was authorized to accept an offer at a certain price level. I executed the sales documents and sent in the deposit based upon his representation. Nearly two weeks later I learned that he was not authorized to accept any deals and the points were pulled from the market. Although others have done okay with him, he doesn't really seem to have his act together. Further, he can't close a deal inside of 60 days (per his own closing timeline). For my money, I will always use Jaki Apetz at www.atimeshare.com/disney. She is exceptionally qualified and made certain to close our transaction within 30 days. She did so despite the fact that the sale period included the Christmas holiday and the Seller lived in Saudi!! Best wishes in making a decision. If you are not careful in selecting a broker, the purchase timeline could really drag out.

I can second the recommendation for Jaki, she was great on our other resale :).

Bottom line is, if Lee has a resale listed that is what you want, I wouldn't hestitate to use him, just be a pain in the rump and call/email him a lot and make sure you stay on top of things. Don't sit on it too long if he doesn't get back to you and there are other resales that you might want.

Jaki is great at staying on top of things for you, Lee you have to be the proactive one. For us it was necessary as we just had to have a VWL resale and he had the only listing at the time.

ps - both of our resales closed in about the same period of time from offer acceptance to closing.

We used Lee to buy an OKW resale in 2001 and everything went great. We had many emails telling us what was going on. We would consider buying from him again.

Good news - bad news with Lee. He has some very attractive deals but is extremely slow getting the transaction closed. Some of this is due to the Disney process but, as strange as it sounds, I'm not convinced he's focused on a quick and efficient close. As an example, my add-on with Lee took more than twice the time as another one I did with the TimeShare Store. There was also more "red tape" with Lee's closing agent (unless Disney's requirements have changed). Stay on top of him with e-mails and calls if you have any concerns.

I made an offer on a resale thru Lee Reid. Gave me some excuse for why he could not get in touch with the buyer quickly. (He does seem to have a lot of them!) And that was the LAST I ever heard! Won't deal with him again! I am the customer and I should NOT have to beat the real estate agent for info.

We used Lee last summer for an add on. In the end it all worked out and we did get a good price, but it took almost 4 months and several emails and phone calls. I'd do it again if he had something I really wanted (we were looking for a small HH addon and they were tough to find last summer), just be aware that you'll probably have to keep after him.

Generally you are correct. However, it all depends on hom much $$$$ you want to save. For our VWL resale it was worth the extra effort to get a great price on a resale with all the current points, as well as all the points banked from the previous year ;).

Well, since I was buying a small resale I was not saving much money. Plus my time is worth something. On the small 50 to 100 point resales by the time you add in the closing costs there really is not a lot of savings over Disney. However, you can't always get what you want from Disney.

I just closed with Reid on Jan. 3 2003. Although everything ended up working out I was less than impressed with his work on my resale. I never heard from him unless I contacted him first. Also, I needed the seller to bank this years use year points for next year. He didn't seem to follow this although I explained it quite well. He just kept sending me e-mails about the points that were available to me. After my closing I contacted a Disney CM who told me the points hadn't been banked but luckily the CM was willing to do this for me even though my 100% banking date was Nov. 29 2002. It all worked out but I was a little irritated that my request had not been fulfilled. I would have been really mad had I not been able to Bank all the full 150 points (I needed 2002 + 2003's points to take my whole family in Nov.). Bottom line, be careful and stay on top of the situation. If any questions you have are not answered to you satisfaction, call and clarify with Reid.

jona8484,
I PM'd you.

I'm sorry. Excuse my stupidity but what does PM'd mean? I'm not familiar with that abbreviation, Joc.

I sent you a Private Message (PM) as your e-mail is not available. If you go to the Disboards homepage and click on "User CP" at the top left it you'll go to a page that will list your private messages, subscribed links, etc. I asked you a question privately as it pertains to your resale.

Hi JOC
