LeCellier

I agree with the CM...it's very average. Just slightly better than an Outback or Lonestar/ chain steakhouse.

I think it depends on what you get.
Definitely can't get the mushroom risotto or the wasabi shrimp at Outback.
They are awesome by the way...

Don't get me wrong, I love outback too but Le Cellier has my heart.
Steakwise I haven't had the fortune to try (since I can't fit an appetizer and a meal in 1 sitting... LOL!!!!).

Then again I'm trying Yachtman's this year, we'll see how they fare... :)

Just curious. What other locations were suggested for a good steak dinner by the CM? :smooth:

Actually, Outback has some incredible crab cakes that I would stack up against the wasabi shrimp at Le Cellier. I'll let you know who wins in February.

In general, in terms of steak, it's just slightly better than chain restaurants, IMO. I loved the kabob app- it was very tasty and the presentation at any disney restaurant is going to stomp a chain but I wouldn't relish spending Le Cellier prices for any place outside a Disney theme park!

The best steaks we have had at WDW were at the Yachtsman. We have never been able to get into Le Cellier until this year. DH said he will try it this time and if he doesnt like it as well as the Yachtsman he will not go back

Thanks for all of the replies. It puts my mind at ease a bit to know we will at least get as good as Outback or Lone Star (actually we like both of those restaurants, especially the bloomin onion). I was just afraid we would get bad steaks, as my husband is a steak fanatic. We ate at Fulton's in DTD last time we were in WDW, and my husband still raves about his steak (mine was just ok).

As for what the CM recommended, he said our best bet for good steaks would be Yachtman's, Concourse or Kona's for the filet (which he said was incredible). We've never been to any of them, so we decided to stick with Le Cellier.

I have eatten there about 10 times in the last 2 or 3 years and have had excellent service and great food... we do always go in the off season though.

I also agree with the CM. Le Cellier has good food, but has never had the wow factor for me, would rather go elsewhere for some distinctly Disney ambience.

I think LeCellier is the board prom queen, personally, for some reason. I am sure the CM just sees it as an average restaurant, and many others would agree. I think he was just sharing his experiences, which are varied like on this thread! LOL!

We didn't go there for years because my mom (also a CM) had a terrible exp there about 5 years ago and never wanted to go back. Well, for a work function they dined there about a year ago and LeCellier changed her opinion. She has since dined there a few more times and it was consistent. So, for years she didn't recommend it to people because of her own exp. Now she recommends it. We are trying it for the first time in a couple of weeks and I'm anxious to see if the board favorite is really that great! =)

I just dined at Le Cellier and was the best meal of the week. Cheese soup breadsticks were all great. I wouldn't recommend the salads, oil based dressing we didn't care for. New crab and salmon appetizer was very good. I had the prime rib which was cooked prefectly and very tender and cream cheese masned potatoes. Others had plain fliet mignon and yukon potatoes. Dessert came from the kids menu chocolate moose and smores, :cool1: very good :cool1:

I ate there May '05, Sept '05, and May '06 and it was one of the best meals we had each time. I had an ADR there for this Sept, but cancelled it a couple of months ago, because we wanted to try Chef's de France. The CM that changed it for me asked me twice if I was aboslutely sure I wanted to cancel Le Cellier saying "you do know how hard it is to get a reservation there don't you?" and "you understand that if you cancel this, you probably won't be able to get it again later if you change your mind?". She was really trying to talk me into keeping it. Now here lately there have been quite a few bad reviews for Chefs and I'm beginning to wonder if maybe she wasn't right and I should have kept my Le Cellier ADR.
