Rumor has it the menu just recently changed at LeCellier. We leave in 6 days so if anyone has been there recently, can you fill us in on the new changes? We'll be there for lunch. Thanks!

Actually, they had some menu changes today....Sunday. I called and finally had someone concall LeCellier to ask about a specific must-have item on the lunch menu. Meaning, if it wasn't on the menu, I was cancelling the ressie.

Here are a few things they told me. New entree items are pan seared trout and some scallop dish. There was one other, but I wasn't keen on it so I flushed it from my memory bank. :lmao: I think it sounded fine, but it was either something that didn't appeal to my taste or was shellfish, which I'm allergic to.

They still have Prince Edward Island Mussels as a lunch and dinner appy, no matter what the posted menus say. I asked specifically about this. (My deal-breaker)

I have no idea if they dropped anything. I only cared about the mussels.

I realize I have only added to the confusion. :confused3

I was told last week that they are doing away with the maple creme brulee!:scared1:

This should be interesting since this is the only TS restaurant in all the parks that we have just never gotten around to, because the menu just never excited us, but this trip we said we're going to get at least get the check mark in the box and say "we've been there and done that". We're still going and will just have to see, but now after reading some of the threads there since joining it should be fine.

ACK! :scared1: Do you have any more details? When is this change due? Will they substitute another flavor of creme brulee?

I'm not a big fan of their desserts and the creme brulee was all that appealed to me. They are way too heavy on the chocolate selections for a person that doesn't like chocolate.

Does anyone know???? :scared:

We just got back from Le Cellier, and hated it! The waiter was a snob, as soon as we told him we were on the DDP he vacated! We never even had a chance for desert... They are changing this place and a few others, and not for the best I think.

We were there last wednesday. Our server confirmed that the maple creme brulee is an endangered species and will be extinct in the next week or two. I didn't ask about any other changes. This was our favorite meal of the trip and we got excellent service even on the DDP... our server was Patrick for what it's worth.

WHAT??? :headache:

The maple creme brulee is one of the things they are most famous for! Hello! Maple = Canada!

With my luck, they'll probably stick another chocolate dish on the menu.

If anyone gets wind of what is replacing the creme brulee, please post ASAP. I leave in a few days! :confused3

totally off topic and genuinely interested in learning this ('cause i have a niece-in-law allergic to shellfish and always struggle w/appetizers when she's coming for a family gathering as we typically do something shellfishy)

are mussels NOT a shellfish?

thanks :)

This is all part of the new 2008 DDP. I was told by a server that most restaurants in Epcot will serve the same cheaper geneic deserts to MAKE MORE PROFIT. The chefs are unhappy and loosing control over thier own menus !

They told us the Creme Brule is gone and will be replaced. This was Friday night the 14th.

thanks... but that confuses me more 'cause the previous poster said she's allergic to shellfish but is planning to order the mussels... :confused3

I'm going to assume she meant shellfish as in crustaceans (shrimp, lobster, crab) and not molluscs (clams, mussels, scallops, oysters)

There are subgroups within "shellfish." You can be allergic to one subgroup and not the other. Or you can be allergic to all of them.

Most people are allergic to things that fall into the subgroup of crustaceans. (shrimp, lobster, crab) That's the group I am in. It seems to be the most commonly used in restaurants. Even if it's not the main part of the dish, you'll find it in sauces, etc. So I always have to tell the chef, so that my meal is cooked in different pans and oils from crustaceans.

The other subgroups (I believe) are mollusks (mussels, oysters, scallops, clams, etc.), gastropods (snails are one example), and cephalopods (squid, octopus). I can...and do.....eat all of those with reckless abandon. :yay:

The term "shellfish allergy" is what society, even medical society, commonly uses. If I used "crustacean allergy," I'd get a blank look about half the time and I would never find it on a medical form. It's sort of like when an Aussie friend of mine visited the US and ordered a dish. I had told him months before to use our American term for a certain food he was allergic to, but he forgot it. He DID ask the waiter if any _____ was in the dish and the waiter said, "No," because the waiter had never heard of the word my friend used. Needless to say, my friend was miserable. Well, if I said I had a crustacean allergy, I'm afraid some waiters might let some lobster sauce slip by. :lmao: But "shellfish allergy" gets their attention and then I go into details.

That's tonight's Shellfish Allergy 101. :teacher:

It's a great fear that Disney restaurants menus are all getting standardised and basically boring. Last year at Chefs they dropped the duck from the menu and this year it's the creme brulee, what's next!

Mind you Chefs de France is not listed on the 2008 DDP list so we won't be going there anyway, which is a shame as over the years we have always enjoyed it.
