I've read reports that Central Florida is having a serious problem with mosquitos as a result of all the standing water from Frances, and now from the outskirts of Ivan.
Other than Fort Wilderness, can anyone say if it's bad at the resorts right now? I wanted to spend more time than usual just lounging on my balcony or at the pool, but if I'm ringing a dinner bell, that may not be a good thing.
I know Disney is better than most at spraying and keeping the local population down, but I don't know a lot about mosquitos - if they hatch "off property", are they like tourists who will head over to WDW for their entertainment?
Maybe another question for our mosquito experts - when do they like to come out? Obviously in the early evening, and I think in the morning as well. But if it's warm and humid, will they stay out all night?
Then, just to top it off, I've read that Florida is beginning to see a few cases of West Nile.
I have some "consumer level" bug spray - 25 % DEET, but a friend recommended a more serious product, like Jungle Juice, which is an oil that's got a much higher content.
Thanks for any input here.
