I just thought I'd see if anybody has any advice for me...

My hubby and I leave tomorrow for a weekend at the Food & Wine Festival. We're both excited, however I have bad anxiety about flying. I'm already starting to get worked up about the flight...
Does anybody else have a fear of flying, and if so how to you deal with it?

TIA!

I do! This will actually only be my second time flying (EVER!) and I'm going alone with my 5 year old son (it'll be his first time). I'm HOPING that I'll try to be strong for him and it won't be so bad. If anything was going to get me on a plane again, it's Disney, Halloween, Food & Wine, Hanson & Free Dining... lol... good luck & before you know it, you'll be in Disney... it'll all be worth it!!!

Let us know how you did! I'm sure it went fine!

I kind of just tell myself... It may look more dramatic, but it really is the safest way to travel, overall. Driving in the car to the airport is the more dangerous part, really.

Just bring a stress ball, or something to crush while the plane is taking off/landing/meeting some turbulence. I promise you, you'll land ok in Florida.

Thanks everyone! Our flight isn't until this evening so the day is dragging on. I can't wait to get to Disney, but this flight has me so worked up it's not funny. It actually makes me want to stay home! :-(

I hope everything went well for you this evening! I HATE flying as well but we are doing so next Thursday!!! I will be in the same boat as you! This will also be my kiddos first time flying and I know as soon as my DD finds out we are flying that day she will be full of anxiety :( Have a safe and great trip!!!

We are flying out Sat. and I'm a little scared, too. I've only flown just a few times. I think the problem is not necissarily the "dying" part of being on the plane (guess I'll die with my whole family!) As much as its the fact if we do crash there's sure to be long moments of scaryness before the crash whereas a car crash you don't usually see it coming. Not sure if that makes any sense or not but that's what freaks me out!

Thanks for all of your kind words! I survived! Since I have been known to have anxiety/panic attacks, I have a prescription for Valium. I took a pill and tried to forget about everything. Thankfully, we had a great seatmate who I was able to talk with. Minus the takeoff and a little turbulence the flight wasn't too bad!
