Leaving Thursday

We get to have a double treat here as next Saturday is DD's Wedding Day in Jacksonville. We will then leave early Sunday for WDW!!!!!

I'm really concerned about my OLDER DB as he is a newbie to using a wheelchair or a scooter. I have rented 2 scooters (one for each of us) to use the 3 full days we will be at the parks.

Please think of us as I try to teach this man some patience by example. I'm a veteran at WDW in a wheelchair but this is his first big outing.

Hi Elaine.

A couple of hints.

1. Suggest to your DB that he go to a Walmart or large grocery store and try out one of the ECVs they have there. Note that the off-site rentals are MUCH easier to drive and maneuver, as they have only three wheels and do not have that giant basket.

2. Use either AK or EC on your first day. They are not as crowded as MK or MGM and it is easier to learn at those parks.

I will be very carefult to watch out for two people traveling together in rental ECVs.

I agree with Cheshire Figment that you want to start out in one of the easier, less crowded parks. Epcot would be my choice. You probably also want to figure out the least busy day during your stay to go to MK. That park is busy and harder to get around even on slow days.
The other thing is to practice a little at your resort before venturing out.

I'm sure we will have a wonderful time. I just need to set an example for him and I'm sure he will follow.
