I'm thinking about doing the DCP program. Its something that has always interested me. I'm just afraid I might have to leave in the middle of it if something comes up. Would this look horrible? I would plan on being there the entire time, but I've never lived more than a mile away from home, and have some illnesses that I'm afraid could flare up, and I always like to prepare for the worst.

Also, are they good with working with you? I suffer terrible insomnia for years, and have to take a medication just to sleep, so I can't work the early morning shifts.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Shoot, one other question! I'm not sure if I could work in a totally outside location, due to my health issues (I've had a heat stroke before). Would that make them not accept me?
I do have a long history of retail work, and excel in my job winning numerous awards and have been deans list my entire college career.

Disney is an equal opportunity employer. You will not be looked over for having a medical issue. Just make sure you tell them during your interview so they can advise you to a job that works well with your condition.

Worst case scenario and you have to leave, you can. A similar thing happened to a friend during my program. Just get the contact information of a manager that likes you. That way you can list Disney as a reference, but your future employer wont know you didn't complete the program.

thanks for the reply. I just realized I sounded super picky and difficult in that first post. I'm willing to work late late into the night, its just those early morning shifts. And I think as long as its not super hot, or direct sun I'll be ok for a while outside.

Just nervous about it all.

Disney has a well defined process to gain restrictions. They will require you to visit a doctor and work directly with Health Services to get those restrictions documented. Then, scheduling and role options may be altered based on your established need. Unfortunately, without Documentation, accomodations are typically not made, so do that right away.

As for leaving the program, if you opt to leave your program early you will be placed on a restricted rehire status, meaning you have to wait 6 months before you're eligible to apply again and would have to demonstrate a change in work behavior. There are several people on these boards that have gone through the process successfully. It doesn't mean they won't hire you back, it just takes more time to get through the red tape.
