Hubby and I are thinking of taking a quick trip to disneyworld. We need to get away from these munchkins, lol. We're still planning on doing our annual trip...but most likely not until next October. So we're thinking just us maybe January/February (we know to avoid President's week). What particular week would you all suggest? Ahhh I can't wait, lol.

I'm not really sure which week you should travel because we don't typically travel to WDW during that time of year. I just wanted to say that my DH and I did just what you are planning a few weeks ago. We traveled to WDW for three nights without the kids and had so much fun! We'd do it again in a heartbeat. I hope you and your DH have an awesome trip!

Part of the consideration is which resorts are you considering. Mid January until the second week of February include thousands of unsupervised teens from SA and if you are at their hotel (I have been last two years) it can be miserable.

We were there the last week of Jan. one year and this poster is 'right on'! We didn't stay at the hotel where they were, but it was terrible in the parks that year! :headache:

Thanks guys! We're thinking cheap....either Music or Sports. What's the story with the unsupervised teens from SA? What's SA?

South America...as in Brazillian tour groups. DH and I have done 2 trips on marathon week and one trip the first week of Feb and all 3 were great as far as crowd levels and good weather. Have you thought about renting points for a studio? Jan especially is super cheap points wise. Even a savannah view studio at AKW for 3 nights (Jan 11-14 just randomly put in) comes out to about $168/night if you rent for $12/point, which is totally doable that time of year. OKW or SSR would be even cheaper...just a thought. Have fun!

Ahhh ok...have to look into that. Crazy crowds wouldn't really matter to us because it'll be just us. It'll just good to not have our own crowd, lol. All Stars are around $90/night...that's the cheap I mean, lol. We rented points at AKL this May and actually missed the value resorts. It was good to try a deluxe but there's a few reasons we like the values. Sports/Music are 2 we haven't been to and I'd rather give them a try for a few days rather than when we go as a family to spend a week.

Gotcha! The BTG have never really bothered us BUT we haven't stayed in a resort with them. Either way, I'm sure you will have a great time!

We went Jan 31-Feb 7 and we really enjoyed it.
The South American kids are there, chanting, all over the place ;) BUT they all seem to go to the same park on the same days, we only ran into them on our first MK day and our AK day, the other days we didn't see any. They take up walkways and block things and were overall pretty rude. It was impossible to get a picture of my daughters in front of the castle without them jumping in the picture in some way on our first MK day. We stayed at a moderate so they were not at our resort but if you are at a value it is likely you will encounter them...OR...
the dance teams ;) there were also some dance teams there, they were much less obnoxious at the parks and didn't seem to tour the parks as a group anyways, I'd see their shirts throughout the parks but it seems they mostly toured with their own families. The only time saw a lot of them was DTD at dinner one night. My bet is most of them stay value as well.
Refurbishments are a given at that time of year too. We had pretty decent weather, 3 days in the 80s, 1 in the 70s, 3 in the 50s/60s. Not necessarily the best swimming weather (we did swim one day though and it was beautiful, we had no interest in the water parks) but that is pretty great park weather. We had rain two of the colder days and on one of the 80 degree days there was a passing shower we missed completely while we were in Enchanted Tales with Belle.
The parks were overall pretty great as far as crowd levels were concerned. My recommendation is if you see the tour groups try to tour a different area of the park until they move on ;)

Is there a site out there giving information on when they're normally at disney? I don't think it would really matter to us....but it might be nicer to avoid them altogether, lol. We were thinking 1st week of February. We've gone in February before so we know the night time weather is chilly. Don't really care about the pools because we wouldn't have the kids with us.
