Leaving Pixar Pals Parking Structure at the end of the day

we left the park after catching the last ride at Space Mountain Friday 9/20. the park closed at 11 pm by the time we walked to the structure from near the back of the park and a couple of shop visits it was about 11:45.

the cars exiting the 5th floor were inching along. rather than doing that and wasting gas we decided to sit tight and wait for it to clear. we didn't exit until about 12:30. driving the route it became clear what the problem was. all the cars have to merge at the end of the isle and turn left just as you do in Mickey and Friends. the added problem is that all of the traffic from the Pixar Pals floor has to join and merge into two additional isles on the Mickey and Friends side before you can make the big loop to the back.

essentially what happens is that most of the cars have to clear the floor on the Mickey and Friends side before the Pixar Pals cars can begin to move.

I can't believe that this is how they intended it to work. if it is then someone else deserves to get fired.

Yes! that’s why I’ve been parking in toy story if I know I’m leaving late. They must’ve been so worried about adding parking spaces they didn’t think about how all of those cars were supposed to exit

A similar thread in WDWMagic "The Parking Structure is a friggin disaster" places the blame on Disney not wanting to pay for Police to direct traffic.

It's not marked very clearly but often times, they have a sign up that directs you to leave via the ramp that leads up into the Pixar Pals structure. You go down and around and exit out onto Magic Way.

I've made the mistake of seeing the sign myself and going around in circles on the Finding Nemo level before realizing where I was supposed to exit.

They really should have at least a few cast members out directing traffic because it can be horrible leaving at night like the OP stated.

Yep! There is an exit to go to Magic Way but it always seems to be blocked. Which is why getting out of Pixar pals is miserable at night

Good choice. I'm not a big fan of Toy Story, but the new structure has really become a headache.

I wonder why it's so inconsistent

I've had luck some nights and it seems like I miss the rush and I get out in no time and other nights I'm stuck in the huge line trying to leave.

I actually cringe when I get directed to the Pixar structure because I never know what I'm going to encounter later in the day/night. Not to mention, it can get dark in some areas and I feel like there's a risk of someone getting hit.

I try to avoid Toy Story lot if I can but I'd be lying if I didn't consider going there instead.
