Does anyone else out there feel completely overwhelmed right before going on vacation? I'm so excited to go and spend 8 days with my DH to celebrate our anniversary!!! However, I can't stop thinking of all those things that need to be done before we go away, like making sure the house is clean, and all the laundry is done...and well the list goes on, but I don't want to sound to neurotic! Just was wondering if anyone else gets this way?

I was like that--I was in crusin' mood up until about 4 days to go--then I could not believe all of the things that I had to get done!!!! Why oh why hadn't I started earlier :confused3 Guess I just couldn't stay off of the dis board :rotfl:
Have fun!! I am jealous!

Honestly, I'm not too worried, but that's only because I started packing about 2 months ago!!! :rotfl2:

I leave in 4 days and I'm going insane!! I'm celebrating our anniversary too!
I'm actually doing laundry now... I've been doing in since 7pm! I want to start packing!! I feel like I'm not going to have everything done!

You have touched on the part I dislike about leaving. If only there was someone to wash the clothes, pack them, clean the house, so the last minute errands, etc. Ugh! there is usually so much adrenaline coursing through me that it seems I get sucked into a vortex of things not done and it never seems to end! Fortuneatly, I do eventually get on the plane and just have to forget it all and concentrate on the fun to come!

Enjoy your Anniversary Celebration! You are at Disney, how can you not enjoy?

I must admit I too feel a bit like you. We leave in five days and I have soo much to do before then. I have 3DD's who all have various activities on . Tonight I am meant to be at swimming lessons then off to a talent concert at the school with one. Tomorrow I have a computing exam!!!! Thursday I have library duty at the school , the chiropodist, gym teds, brownies and a rainbow fundraiser. It goes on and on and on.!!!! I also have to fit in a haircut !!!!
I can't leave the house anything other than spotless either so hubby is taking the girls to a birthday party on Saturday so I can get the house done.
thinking about leaving the worst jobs for him as I will have done everything else do with packing and holiday organising.
It is my wedding anniversary as well when we are away but unfortunately we have kids so no romantic getaways or even romantic gestures !!!
Might get an ice cream if I am lucky!!
Having spent days cleaning I get really hacked off as well cos when we get to the villa I have the same daily chores like washing ironing etc. while DH seems to think he is on holiday and all he has to do is drive us about!!!
I sometimes wonder why I bother go away at all there is never any excitement about going away!!!

Hang in there kiddo! I know exactly what you are fealing like! we have just under two weeks but I'm fealing the same thing you are...overwhelmed. :dance3: I am trying to make lists for everyone to follow as far as what to pack, what needs to be cleaned, who needs to take care of the Parakeet while we are gone etc. I did get back from the school and turned in their vacation package requests so at least THAT is done! :thumbsup2 On top of that, I sprained my knee yesterday! just take a DEEP breath and go one step at a time! :teeth: HAVE LOTS OF FUN! :woohoo: :woohoo: Yo Ho! pirate: Helen

Yep, I'm right there with you. Luckly I have a home daycare, so while the kids nap I can get a few things done. But since we leave at the end of the month that means a pile of paperwork that has to get done before we can leave!
Makes no sense to clean the house too much, 6 kiddos here all day and it is just orgainzed mess all the time....

Luckly I have half day on friday, so I will have 2 whole hours to vacume and finish up before we leave...LOL

I try not to get overwhelmed before going on vacation.. So I make lists

Believe me, I know how you feel. Take the typical pre-trip stress and then add in the fact that I just had to have surgery due to cancer 3 weeks ago today. (a hysterectomy) I haven't been able to do very much in the way of cleaning so my house is in shambles. (I have a 7 year old and a 3 year old) We leave Friday and I just have so much to do. Thankfully the packing part is pretty much done. But I'm just overwhelmed about EVERYTHING else. Oh and by the way, we leave FRIDAY!

Shelby, Take it from someone else who tried to do too much following a hysterectomy, rest as much as possible before the trip, let your body recover. I am sure you will enjoy the trip a whole lot more. If the house isn't perfect before you leave no one will turn you in to the dirt patrol I'm sure. Don't sweat the small stuff, your health is much more important than a picture perfect house.

I definitely get the same way...in fact DH and DD know to stay out of my way the last 2 nights before we leave because they tell me I get a bit cranky :confused3 .

I also make lists, which really helps and I look at what I can realistically do vs. what I wish I could get done. I work on the important things and then try and do the others if there is time.

Enjoy your trip and just remember...whatever you don't get finished will still be there when you get home :rotfl2: . The fairies never seem to complete those unfinished tasks before I return, so I'll be in the same boat in 66 days.

Enjoy!

OH NO! I'm so far behind! You started packing 2 months ago? We leave in a little over a month! I better start cleaning and packing and oh gosh, what else has to be done? I was calm till I read this! :confused3

Yes, I go crazy trying to get everything done so that I'm not greeted when I get home by a pile of stuff on my to-do list. It's bad enough coming home from WDW!

We leave in 3 days and here I sit Dising instead of doing what I need to be doing! Could that be part of the reason I'm stressed? Procrastination??.....nah. :goodvibes

I know how you feel. We leave on Thursday night. Just DH and I. I have landry to do, clean the house, make agenda for DMIL and DM, pack for the kids they are going to DMIL for the weekend. I am feeling so overwhelmed.

And here I sit on the DIS. :badpc:

I know....DH is going to have to cut the DSL cables. It's our only hope of making our flight! :rotfl2:

STRESS? STRESS? our trip was 9/16+9/24 I had sooooo much to do before the trip-- and I DESPISE packing! :guilty:

Weeks before our trip I was have THEEEE WORST pains in my upper stomach. I was eating antiacids like they were candy and they did NOTHING for the pain! It felt like someone was reaching into my stomach and twisting it!

My mother said maybe its your nerves- take some ativan! Who would have thought planning a trip to Disney would cause this, to need ativan? I actually made an appt before I left for my trip to see my doctor the day after I got home-- thats how bad it was- I actually said to DH- I am not even looking forward to this vacation if this is how much pain I will be in every day! WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!?

WELL! the day I left and all vacation I had NOT ONE PROBLEM! NOT ONE!

now thats bad! :rotfl: being that stressed before a trip! :sad2:

Oh, it feels good to know that I am not alone! I am sitting at the computer at 11:27pm and can't sleep, I keep running through all the different things that I need to do before Tuesday. This week is the first time during the planning that I am starting to feel the excited energy from the kids. For the longest time I would tell them how many days it was going to be before we left and they would say "That is going to take forever!" Now my 9 year old daughter can't believe that she only has 3 more days of school left! Please pinch me I can't believe that in less then a week I will be at the Magic Kingdom!

Get out a spiral notebook and make a list of what you need to pack for each person traveling (shirt, shoes, underwear, favorite toy, etc...) as well as a family list (camera, film, lisence, park tickets, plane info etc...) This will help you get through the next couple of days. As you start gathering your items for the trip and setting them in a designated spot or your suitcase ~ just check them off your list. Take the list with you in your carry on and that way you know what is in your bags and should anything happen to your luggage you can report to the airlines what is missing. I plan all trips this way.
I also type up our travel info (flight numbers, times of arrivals, departures, car rental, hotel, etc...) then I e-mail it to BIL & SIL so in case of an emergency someone knows where we are and where we parked our car at the airport (We always use AirPort FastPark - but if we didn't tell anyone our car could be there forever!)
I hope you destress and have an absolutely awesome trip!!!!
