Pretty sure I-57 thru Illinois will be clear, how about I-24???? We will be doing the I-75 portion of our trip on the way down from about 1:00 AM to 7:00 AM so not all that worried about that part, at least for on the way down...

Jon 99,
We just made the return trip last week and ran into some major construction on 1-24 Westbound just before Nashville. They had 1 lane of the 2 lanes closed and it had things pretty snarled at 5:00 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon. We simply exited the highway, had dinner at Cracker Barrel and got back on the road with full tummies which made things a little more bearable. I spoke to the manager at the restaurant to find out if there was a way around the construction and he said there wasn't but that it was only a weekend thing and should be completed by 3/15. Other than that, there was scattered construction here and there but nothing major. Have a safe trip!

There is some road construction in southern Georgia, specifically around the Cordele exits, and then again between Tifton & Valdosta. I drove down & back last weekend, and there was a lot of police activity in both of those areas, since the speed limit was knocked down to 60 mph. Aside from that, I ran into no construction at all in Florida. Have a safe trip & watch out for Smokey.

Thanks.. Very rarely do we run into traffic during spring break season, hopefully that continues...

We hit major traffic on 95 last year during spring break somewhere in the south but not sure where, hope that is better.::MinnieMo

we are leaving in a couple of hours--any more info on Nashville/Murfreesboro construction?

thanks!

The adventures for the upcoming weekend in Tennessee. SOUNDS HORRID TO ME!

"I-40 east in Nashville closed Saturday 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at mm-213. Motorists bound for Nashville International Airport should use alternate routes.

I-40 at White Bridge Road in Nashville, mm-204, lane closures March 26, 27 and 28. Major delays anticipated.

On I-24 at Murfreesboro, mm-74 to 78, one lane traffic during daytime hours March 28. Major delays anticipated.

Weekend lane closures in Nashville on I-40, mm-212 to I-24, mm-49. Delays expected.

On I-40 in Knoxville lane closures at mm-385 March 28 and 29.

On I-40 between the Arkansas State line and mile marker 1 in Memphis, motorists will encounter weekday lane closures until April 9 for bridge inspection. Two lanes will be open.

Resurfacing on I-40 in Putnam County (mm-281 to 291), I-65 in Maury County and on I-24 at Monteagle Mountain (mm-131 to 135) and in Marion County (mm-160 to 166).

For details about all construction projects, click interstate icons on map."

I agree with CHIPNWENDY:

There is some road construction in southern Georgia, specifically around the Cordele exits, and then again between Tifton & Valdosta.

We drove down on Friday and were in southern Georgia at around 2-3pm. The south bound traffic was fine on 3/12. The north bound traffic was a parking lot.

Coming back on 3/20 (Saturday) we were in southern Georgia at around 12-1pm and no construction workers were around. No delays north or southbound.
