My DS and I leave on Friday for a quick weekend trip (Fri- Monday) to celebrate his 7th b-day at Star Wars Weekend. We usually travel with family or friends and my DS always has to adapt to what someone else wants to do. So I told him this trip is all about him, he gets to pick where we stay and what we do. He was very happy about this! But he had taken over! He won't let me plan anything! He picked Pop Century for our hotel. I asked where he wanted to eat so I could make plans, he said "I'm in charge of this trip". OK. I did secretly make a PS for Sci-Fi since I knew we would be at MGM for a good part of the day and he thinks it's cool there, but I won't tell him.

Last night he had some park maps out on the living room floor looking over everything. He told me that the first night, we are going to play in the arcade at POP, go to Downtown Disney to go to the Lego Store and then come back for some night time swimming. I suggested that we eat at the food court before the Lego store. He very seriously says "Mom, Song sells food on the plane you can eat then" I almost fell over (LOL). I think I have created a little monster.

It is killing me that I don't have a plan of action, especially since we don't have that much time. I usually know where we are going to eat and which park we will be at each day. We are not commandos, we usually pick a few things we want to do each trip and make sure we do them. But I don't like not having a plan. I am guessing this trip we will be at MGM for SWW, EPCOT (our favorite park), the Lego store and the pools and arcade at POP.

I guess this is just kind of a vent but I thought you guys would understand my anxiety. But at least I know that in 2 days I will be is warm sunny FL out of this cold deary spring we are having in Massachusetts.

Oh, I feel your pain. That would be very hard for me to do. But, just think how much you are doing for your DS! Wow - The decision making skills, self-confidence, etc. You inspire me. I may have to give up some control to my kids DD7 and DS5 for our next trip. :scared:

WOW...this brought SUCH a grin to my face reading it.....

:cheer2: :cheer2: YOU GO GIRL :cheer2: :cheer2: .....let him plan it ALL

Pack some breakfast bars or something if you think you'll be hungry and don't forget the ant-acids.....I bet you have a bunch of WILD food ahead of you!

Wow! That's terrific that your son is so into the planning. Maybe you could gently suggest deciding on one or two restaurants. I would tell him that it could be a special plan or something, that it can get very busy there and you might not have a place to eat if you don't make some reservations.
