Leaving for College program with DD on the 4th!

My daughter was just given the Campus Rep job for the CP here in PA. It is volunteer but it sounds like fun too.

She is thrilled to be working for WDW again. I asked her if they needed a mother on the program.

My friend's daughter leaves tomorrow, and we were just reading some of the other "CP" kids sites....we had a question.....does Disney have some kind of "bank" where the kids can cash personal checks? If her Mom and anyone sends checks we were hoping there was a place to cash them?

There is a credit union for cast members, Vista. Cast Members only have to keep $5 in an account to keep it active, and they have access to Vista ATM's throughout the property. There is an option for an E account, and checks can be deposited with no fee through the ATM.

The nice benefit is that any deposits (cash or check) are immediately available for withdrawal. So if friends DD needs money, mom can send a check, daughter can deposit and withdraw funds.

The Vista Credit Union site is here if you'd like more information. She'll be able to sign up at the meetings her first day of the program (the day she signs in).

I didn't join Vista because I felt that Disney had enough of a hold on my money as it was. However, if I get the campus rep job I applied for (fingers crossed and pixie dust appreciated!), I might go ahead and join, mostly because they have pretty good loan rates. You can still do direct deposit of your paychecks no matter what bank you go through. Vista ATMs are pretty much limited to backstage locations and the actual bank building (which is on S. International Drive, not far from Chatham and the Commons.)

I kept my bank account at Bank of America while I was on the CP. It worked out really well for me -- there are tons of full-service banks and ATMs all over Orlando. My mom also liked me being at Bank of America because she could make a deposit into my account at the bank at home, but I had complete access to the money immediately afterwards. I would assume you'd have the same luck with any nationwide bank, but I liked Bank of America because there are so many of them in Central Florida.

Sooner Kate, good luck on you getting the campus rep job. My daughter is all excited since she was accepted yesterday.

We kept DD checking account open back here and she had her paycheck direct deposited into Vista. That way if I needed to "float" her a loan I could put the money quickly into her account. She didn't have a car so it made it hard for her to get to the bank but she used the ATM.

Marla, it appears from reading my tea leaves that Sunday evening appears to be the best day and approx time. I believe DTD is still probably the best place. If that is ok I will notify the Orlando Sentinel and make sure the ark lights are set for our arrival. I sent you a PM with appropriate cell phone #s etc.

It is time to pack tonight se we can sit around tomorrow night and say..."We're going to Disneyworld" Uh.... I guess you will have to be there!

Well, I can't seem to get any sort of response from college recruiting as to whether or not they even got my application, so I'm sort of thinking I'm not going to get it. I faxed my application in, and I've called (was transferred to a voicemail box and haven't gotten a call back) and e-mailed (nothing yet!) them.

Next semester, though...it's all mine!

SoonerKate, it is not unusual for Disney to take their time in communicating, as I am sure that you know. But, I would continue to call. (You know.... squeaky wheel stuff!)

Looking forward to meeting those who are coming to DW. Hope everyone has their phone charger since we didn't decide on out meeting place and time. then talking to you wonderful folks on this thread is to meet you in person.

We are currently at CBR at WDW. Safteymom we are in the last building at the back of the resort and it is georgous! We have a 2nd floor room with a canal view.

DS is fine and looks good. We got to see him HARD at work at the top of the slide at SAB saying "Ok, you can go now!"

DW and I also got to meet Marla and her mom last night. MOM is a trip! So is Marla! It is like you are meeting old friends. We met at DTD around 9:00 and talked until almost midnight! I am not sure any of us took a breath! LOL.

JK1 was not getting here until late last night. We are hoping to get together with everyone on Sunday night!

Safteymom we agree that if we were using the food court it would be a hike, but we are meeting DS here and there so we have not taken advantage of the food court. In fact we are big users of Disney Transportation and have yet to get on a bus! Really strange for us

Well we have met Mirmatt and JK1 and survived!!!!! They are both very entertaining and nice ladies!!! We sat on the brick wall between WOD and the Basin store at DTD for almost 3 hours and non of us ran out of things to say. (Why does that not surprise me!) Prnce of Thieves was there and I think I only saw his eye roll back in his head two or three times. Actually it is a pleasure to spend time with our child in an adult setting and have him fit in so well. (we only had to spank him twice) Just kidding!

It is really great to put faces and personalities with names! And not have them run away.

At least now they can all agree that I do look more like Sully and act more like Stitch!!!

BY the way we went to MGM today and did animation. There was no line to go see stitch and he was actually just sitting there waiting for someone to come and see him. We got 4-5 great picutures with him. His badness level was pretty good today!

As Yes Dear said...... we got a chance to meet and we did spend alot of time talking. It really was like we have known each other for a long time. I look forward to continuing out friendships. I'm a TRIP huh????? Okay, and what is that supposed to mean!! HA! Spent the day today doing things for DD. She needed a new watch, purse, (her strap just broke...... great timing!) etc. It really was a nice day. It was difficult to leave...... as we had such a wonderful time and I was so sad to leave DD. The great thing is that she is doing so nicely and I love to see how independent she has become. Thank goodness she is so pleased with her roommates, job, etc. YEAH!!
Last night, after I picked up DD at work, attempting to take her back to her apartment, I must have taken a wrong turn and next thing I know I am on my way to Tampa. Bad lighting, construction, and it is 1:00 am. I turned around and made it back, but boy was it creepy. I always know when I'm in trouble..... when I see that Mickey Mouse Head electrical tower on the direction that I am going. Do you know what I am referring to? By the way...... it is like 70 in Detroit tonight. After the humidity in FL, it was freezing when we got off the plane! Hey, Yes Dear......... can you believe that it is almost 1:00am and I am on the computer! Talk to you later! Marla
