Leaving for College program with DD on the 4th!

It's probably just a temporary bug. My mom thinks I've forgotten how to clean since I've been home, too!

One morning the housing inspector scared me half to death when she came in and woke me up to tell me to get my laundry off of the floor!

Maybe it's the threat of termination that keeps us all clean while we're down there. I knew a couple of people who got reprimands and terminated for not keeping their apartments clean enough.

Have not heard from you in a while.

Hope you and DD are doing fine.

I have sent several PM's and you have not read them. I just checking to make sure you are OK!!!

I'm back...... I swear this new middle school that I am at is wearing me thin..... (boy would I love that, literally!) Anyway, I am making so many calls home to parents to try to nip problems in the bud, that when I get home, after driving in traffic for 50minutes, I drag myself to the couch and can barely function. I start to think about dinner at around 6:30. Going out to eat is a drag because once I'm home I don't want to go out again. It has been three weeks of school and I am hoping things start to settle down, but in the meantime, I think about you guys all the time, just can't get to the computer....... reading it gets me even more tired, sometimes! (not our conversations, though)

DD is doing really well and we are looking forward to her coming home for 2 days in October. My next trip to DW will be for the Soap Opera Weekend Nov. 7-10. Love to see any of you. Would love to come when you guys go in Oct., but I don't want to take too many days off, especially with my being at a new school. You know, must create a good impression and all! I have not unpacked stuff from the last trip yet! I am trying to figure out whether I need a Disney room in my house....... so much stuff and still buying more!

SoonerKate...... I know things will work out as you have the right attitude, and that is what it takes to be successful.
Doesn't anyone want to come to the Soap Weekend..... it is so cool. I don't think I'll rent a car then as we spend all out time at the parks.

What's everyone been up to? Have missed all of you and will talk soon. Marla

DW woke up Sat morning with a bad headache. She has not lost it and has had bad body aches and a low grade fever that seems to come and go. I took her to the Dr. today and they are checking her for West Nile Virus, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and Lime Diease.

My guess is West Nile if it is anything exotic. She got some good mosquito bites the night we got back Labor Day. That is within the period that it can develop in.

The good news is that her overall health is good and she should not have any aftereffects if that is what it is..

Her Biggest problem is that she just hurts.

So if you see tink send her our way!!!

Yes Dear, I'm sending all the pixie dust I can for your wife. I hope it is nothing serious and that she soon feels good as new.

Hope all is well..... please send my good wishes that there is a speedy recovery! Mosquitos are really a problem...... tell me again what their purpose is in this world???? Other than to cause problems...... Wishing the best, Marla

Welcome from hurricane Isabel. While we are about 100 miles from the epicenter of Isabel we are still getting 30-50 mph gusts. Everything in effect is closed. The airport is closed. The worst is to be over in about 2-3 hours. It is raining in sheets most of which is horizontal!

My thoughts and prayer to those to the east of us.

To those of you to the north of us get ready I understand Isabel will make a quick visit to VA, MD, DC and PA.

Hope everyone stays safe!

YesDear, I think I just made it out of Pittsburgh in time. More flights are starting to be delayed.

Stay safe everyone. I am sitting in a hotel in Chicago for business.

I can't believe that I responded to this and accidentally hit...... post new thread! Don't respond to it!! How dumb is that! Marla

So, I went to the first rep meeting here -- turns out two of our reps are graduating in december and they've both offered to write me letters of recommendation so I can have their position in January! I'll be working with them and helping them out this fall (our presentation is on Sept. 24th).

Hopefully the fact that I'll have worked as an actual rep for no compensation for a semester will help sway the powers that be into giving me the job for real!

Hope you get the job. In the meantime, I have a son who is planning on attending the presentation on the 24th. He's just going for info because he is only a freshman. Both he and his cousin (she's also a freshman at the University of Idaho) hope to do the Intern program during their soph or Jr year. Is he wasting his time by going? Do they do more than one presentation a year? Should he wait? Thanks for any advice you can give.

Tori

Well, this presentation is specifically for Spring and Spring Advantage of next year, but it'd be great if he'd come out anyways! We'd love to meet him, and it can't hurt if he gets to know our area recruiter.

Tell him to check out http://ou.disneycp.net for more information about our presentation.

Just wanted everone to know that DW did live through the week. She is feeling better! Still do not know what it was. She sure felt bad.

To ToriLammy: Just wanted you to know that our son went through the interview process as a freshman and was accepted in the program. He properly turned down the offer and was hired on his second time to apply as well. He is there now. so I would say to tell them to go for it. Just make sure if accepted they let Disney know they cannot accept.

YesDear, I'm glad to hear that your DW is feeling better. Tell her to rest up for your upcoming WDW trip!

I keep asking for help!

You all seem so knowledgeable about the surroundings at Disney. A friend is going down the week of Thanksgiving and she was wondering if there are any stores around that sell cooked turkeys? Any food stores around Buena Vista except Goodies???

My friend's daughter is working at the Great Movie Ride and is loving every minute she's there.....going to see her in a few weeks and then go back with her family again in December....I'm so glad she is having such a good experience!

Thanks for any help you can give on the "turkeys"!!!

I would check the Winn Dixie store down the street from Goodings. I would imagine they would do that.

I am a fan of Goodings and would imagine for something like a cooked Turkey dinner they would be competitive with Winn Dixie.

Your friend could also try Publix grocery store. I think Publix will sell a complete Thanksgiving dinner to go!

Last year when my son was in the College Program we were there at Thanksgiving. We purchased our food at Publix. You will have to order in advance--I think they need a week's notice.

Enjoy!!

We will be there in about 2 weeks for DS's Bday. We will check it out and post it here what the deal is!!

How is that for service. Can't you see me smiling!!!! LOL
