Leaving for College program with DD on the 4th!

Glad I could help. The College Program is great but you have to be very careful that you don't break any of the rules. I am sure you will get the answers.

When my daughter gets home later today I will have her post them. It isn't on the DIS board but other sites. They are very popular with the CP'ers.

Mystic, your friend's daughter needs to make whatever flight arrangements she can to be there and be ready to start the check in process the morning of her due date. They have meetings and learn all sorts of valuable information throughout the day, all about security, how to get your visitors in, etc., stuff she will want to know. It is a long, long day, and the next days is followed with more meeting, learning sessions, etc. I seem to remember from our experience at the June check-in that the housing people were closing up shop and leaving for the day around 6:00 P.M. Not sure what happened to people that came after that. Hope she can work this out.

If she can't arrange an earlier flight, she should really consider flying in the day before and spending the one night in a hotel. Disney really wants the kids to check in earlier that day, the earlier the better.

With JK1 and Rwethereyet!

Unless she gets a very good and clear OK from Disney, I would make sure she is there the day before to be there bright and early on checkin day. She does not want to be the last one checked in for the day. She will miss out on lots of good stuff!

Two more WDWCP Sites..

http://www.disneycp.net and http://www.wdwcp.org.

(Yeah, the first one is self-linking, but what's a little self-promotion?). I do have a good packing list up on the site, under Living.

The second site is owned by Tim Larkin, another alum. We're working together to start another forum to replace disneyalumni.com, which isn't very well moderated or maintained.

We didn't get there until around 3 in the afternoon. They wanted dd to go to a meeting the next day, thinking that she could not do all the check in and that too. She didn't have a problem with getting the stuff done, etc., but having it to do over again...... although there was no line or wait at the time we were there, I would still go for the idea of getting there as early as possible. They didn't have any kind of welcome party that day, which the kids who had been there since January seemed surprised about. I think that everyone is invited to the welcome party at the end of this month...... I think. Just a suggestion and agreeing with others. Marla

Just wondering how DD doing with new roommates. Hope they are getting along well!

DS seems to be doing fine. With the kids leaving and coming for fall, he has had some long days. He normally works afternoons, but hopes he will get some more mornings now that he has senority!!! LOL

Have you figured out where you are staying for Labor Day yet?

Tell "TT" Hi for me.

Has school started for you yet. Our schools opend last week!!!! Seems they start earlier and earlier.

I can't believe it.... I can't believe i found out where my parents have their little hang out spots on the internet.... It is like your very own Dead Poet's Society except that you talk about your DS's and DD's CP experiences.

By the way, i have to introduce myself. *stands up and intros self to circle of new friends* My name is John Andrew and my mother is a Disney Addict.... Ok Ok Ok, wrong place, sorry about that. Let me correct myself and actually claim myself to be the only child of RweTHEREyet and YesDear... At least i think that i'm the only child, I ready about my father having his confusions to actually being married and all... he must be having senior moments.

Ok, enough with the funny stuff and on with the serious business.... It has been pretty funny reading through this thread and reading what the parental units have had to say about their children units. Don't ask me how i found this thread which is lost in the sea of millions of other threads b/c i won't tell :-p!

Ok Ok, finally done with the joking aside, i was serious about finding it pretty interesting reading about what everyone has to say about us CPer's learning to live life on our own and the struggles we go through... i have noticed several times that my father has mentioned how proud of me he is. The only reason that i have turned out the way i did is b/c i had such wonderful parents like my father which doesn't have hairs long enough on his head to even call blue (refer to posts further back) and my mother which does help me out on occasion (but only if i really need it). The maturity that they have engraved in me has made me realize how much many other CPer's my age and those much older than I still have to grow up in order to live in the real world and deal with the stresses that come our way. I am almost half way done with my college experience and i greatly believe that it has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Through several life experiences: the child victom, domesticating etc... i have been able to actually figure out who i am and what kind of person i want to become.

To all parents out there with their DS/DD out here on the WDWCP please let me know where i can find them as we need to form our own little army so we can talk about you guys too :-p.

I Never heard of this guy! Prince of Thieves!!! My little boy would NEVER call himself the Prince of Thieves!

LOL LOL

I guess it is from where when he was about 3 that he played the movie Robin Hood OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!! Yeah back in the day they even had VCR's

Everything he said about his mother and me are of course the truth. When you are perfect parents you grow to get used to it! LOL

Do not know how he got to this thread but if he thinks I am going to stop talking about him because he might be reading, think again.

Welcome Prince of Thieves to this is your life! And I still am very proud of you!!! Now get your TV fixed, check the oil in your car and wash it sometime and..........................

Nice to meet you prince of thieves. Ah yes we parents have managed to have an area for ourselves.

I guess it is because we envy our sons and daughters who are lucky enough to be in the CP. :)

My daughter started back at her old college yesterday. One of the first people she sees has a guest of honor badge on. So my daughter strikes up a conversation about Disney and of course tells her all about the CP.

Guess you can take the girl out of Disney but you can't take Disney out of the girl.

Have a great time on the CP.

LOL! Glad to meet you, Prince of Thieves!

My son is safely home from the program, but it was definitely a high point in his life. He met his wife at Disney, so keep your eyes open.

Nice to meet you, Prince of Thieves! My daughter is back home from the Spring, 2003 WDWCP but is itching to get back there real soon! She loved every minute of it. Well, ok, maybe not every single minute, but she still had the time of her life while there! Good luck on your WDWCP. Make every minute count!

WE HAVE BEEN EXPOSED....... QUICKLY, EVERYONE, BURN ALL YOUR RECORDS OF THESE CONVERSATIONS. WE MUST QUICKLY FIND A NEW LOCATION. THERE HAS BEEN A BREACH OF SECURITY. NOW WHAT!! Oh, Hi everyone......... I just got alittle carried away when I realized that a CPer found us out! Next thing you know, my dd will be writing! I need some time to calm down...... I'll check in later when I devise a new plan. HA!

Hi Prince........ Marla

Guess you can take the girl out of Disney but you can't take Disney out of the girl.

Believe me, there is no one who makes that statement more true than a CP Alum!! Just wait for the first time she's walking across campus and picks up trash on the ground using the Disney scoop -- or starts giving directions to every lost-looking person she sees.

And the Disney Point? I'm 8 months out from my CP, and it's still not going away!

Ah, the Disney point. :) She sure has done that here. She also was picking up paper on the floor where she works and several people commented on it.

Hopefully she will be working back at WDW before you know it.

I'm 1.5 yrs out of my program, but as soon as I return to WDW (even on vacation) the pointing resumes! Terrible, just terrible! :D Funny thing is I must look like I know something because everywhere we go around WDW people ask me question...the ASMo pool, the Resort Monorail, Space Mt., Backstage Tour at MGM........

let us just hope that DS does not start carrying his whistle with him and blows it when little ones get to close to a rain puddle!!!

JUST KIDDING Prince!

Ah, the infamouse Disney point! Lives on in my daughter, too. And she finds herself always wanting to talk to the children she encounters in her work, too!

That is too funny about the whistle, YesDear! :D
