leaving car at the resort for the cruise

We are driving to Orlando for our 4night Disney stay and then a 3 night cruise. I have been told that we can not leave our car at the Disney resort to take part in the Disney transportation from the resort to the ship. So we have to drive to Port Canaveral, but we really do not want to after driving from Pennsylvania a few days before. Any options out there for us drivers?
I thought about driving to the airport and parking there to take the transportation from the airport and then we can return back to the airport after the cruise to pick up our car. We are staying at a condo for a few nights after we return. Just looking for some suggestions.

It's really not that long of a drive to the port. If you are going to drive to teh port, the airport is almost half way at that point.

Your parking permit would show your resort checkout day.

It's not a long drive to the port, it took us under an hour, so it's really not much more than if you drove to the airport, and less hassle.
