Leaving camper unattended

Does anyone know the policy for leaving a camper (actually we have a travel trailer) unattended at FW? Last we were there we spoke to a man who had his camper in a site for, as I recall, several weeks, and who told us that he commuted between there and his home a couple of hours away.

I was not 100% sure that FW was okay with that (what would they do if there was a problem and they needed to reach you?) but if so thought we might possibly take the trailer down at some point (holidays or summer) and come back once or twice to check on things at home (and go to our jobs!) then be able to go back without hauling, setting up, etc. again.

Anybody?

if it's on a site and paid for I doubt they would have any problem, i suggest when leaving that you shut the water off

FW does have a time limit on camping sites, I believe it is 28 days.

However, they do allow seasonal rental on certain sites for certain such extended periods of time, usually off season. Check with guest services at FW to get exact details.

I'd be willing to bet there are camper storage places in Orlando for folks who want to leave their campers for extended periods-which is probably cheaper that Fort Wilderness! 30 days x $50 is $1500.00!!!

Sorry, my point was not clear. I am not talking about storage for long periods, I am talking about, for instance, renting for several weeks -- staying several days, going back home for 3 or 4, back for several more, etc. One, there are discounts for longer rental periods, and two, we would be there much more than not. The lower daily rate for longer term and not having to deal with set up and take down repeatedly would definitely make it worthwhile.

My question was simply to try to find out any problems with leaving the camper there for perhaps 3-4 days at a time when we are not there.

We were going to stay 2 weeks at Christmas time, then heard about the winter settler's program and extended our stay to 30 days. We were at FW for about 4 days, then went home for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Stayed at FW for a few more days then visited family in Sarasota for New Years. I had to return to work January 6, so we were home from Sunday night through Friday afternoon and returned to FW for the weekends until our 30 days were up. We told the front desk we would be away for a few days and made sure they had our cell phone number in case they needed to get ahold of us. It sure beats having to haul the travel trailer back and forth and setting up.

By the way, our rate was $31 per night with the winter settler's program.

THANKS!!! That is exactly what I was wondering about. Thanks so much for the info about your experience.
