We leave Friday to begin our drive to WDW. We take it slow and enjoy the trip so we won't actually check into VWL until Monday morning (off site Sunday night with a trip to DTD).

This will be my first trip with a dSLR - Kylie's first with a good camera (her new S3) and our youngest DD (14) has a poloroid i733LP (she insisted that was one she wanted for her birthday because of the color -hot pink :sad2: couldn't talk her out of it).

I want to get the best photos I can - so any last minute advice - tips - thoughts?

My DD (7) saw a Kodak Easyshare at Target and wants it because it is purple!

Have fun on your trip!

Have fun! We leave Friday morning too! I'm trying to take in all the good photo ideas - I've saved a few of the ones I like (that others have taken) on my laptop so I can look back to try to recreate that photo myself - LOL I will be taking the laptop but I don't think they have wifi internet service at All Star Music (note to self - need to check on that...)

I have a new (got in April) Canon S3 IS and my 10 yo has a Samsung 630 that she got for her bd earlier this month - it's also pink - LOL!

We are meeting two other families down there that are friends of ours here (we all have a 10 yo daughter and the three girls are BEST friends) (plus 5 other children between us) so this will be a memorable trip for sure!

Have a GREAT trip!!!

Carol have a fantastic trip. :)

We will get to see my neice (year younger than me) and her family while there. Her kids have never been so I can't wait to see their eyes - especially her daughter.

*********

what is it with kids and having a camera just because of what color it is? :confused3 silly things! ;)

Photography tips speaking,,, try to get into MK as early as possible. If you can get an 8am breakfast at Crystal Palace they will open the gates at about 745am. GREAT light on the castle at that time of day. If your staying at a Disney Resort then take advantage of the early EMH. Its worth it just for the great light for photo ops.

Other than that have a great trip. Looking forward to seeing your pics when you get back.

Have a great trip, Jen, and post lots of pictures when you get back! We're heading down to the world next month and I can't wait!! I have two 2G cards and two 1G cards for my S3......I hope that'll be enough!;)

And congratulations to Kylie on her graduation! My oldest DS graduates from HS next year, and I know I'm going to be a blubbering idiot during the ceremony.

My only advice is have a wonderful time, take lots of pictures, and post them when you return. Are you taking a tripod for night shots?

Jen, if you're anything like me, your first trip with your new camera is going to turn your vacation into a completely new experience!!! You're going to find that you want to slow waaaaay down and take in all the details. In our case, this was a problem, because the kids were anxious to go, go, go and I wanted to stop every two seconds and take a picture. As my oldest son commented, I was so busy "recording the memories", there wasn't time to actually MAKE the memories!

So, my recommendation would be, if possible, break away for an hour or two and get your "fix" without feeling guilty. Another tactic is to let everyone else re-ride without you (you have to ride some of them with them!) and on rides where it's possible, get their picture on the ride.

Regardless, have a wonderful trip!!! I can't wait to see all your pictures!

A little OT, but you should be sure to bring some windex and paper towels b/c the love bugs are extra thick this year. My parents drove from Cape Coral to WDW this morning and had to stop three times on the way and it is only a three hour trip. This is even with the special bug disolving washer fluid. To help keep them from sticking to your car body and lights, you can spray cooking spray on those areas. It lubricates the car without damaging the paint. You can also rain-x your windshield, but it only helps a little bit.

Take a laptop to off load all the pictures the 3 of you will take. Take as many pictures as you can "without missing out of the experience". Snap several shots of the same thing (you can pick the best on later). Take shots of the places/things/etc that strike you eye. But most of all, take pictures of your family enjoying themselves. 1 shot of a true smile over rules lots of shots of things. :thumbsup2 Have fun and enjoy your trip!

my only tip is for you to have enough fun i can enjoy some vicariously:thumbsup2:)
