This is my second trip to Aulani. We stayed in a one bedroom villa on points as we are DVC members. We spent the last week at Aulani. There are 2 teens in our party.
We rented a car from the airport. The process is much simple than the last visit. The car rental center makes the process very simple. No need for shuttles or walk around checks of the cars.
We arrived the first day around 4. Checked in at the resort. I had done online check in and they checked us in by the valet parking. No need to go to the front desk.
We left and got groceries from Safeway. Preferred this store to Costco (food sizes too large) and to Target (tried Target last trip and was not impressed with selection)
Our teenage son tried the North Shore Shark Adventure and loved it. He said he got about 20 minutes with 7 other people in the shark cage
He did the surf lesson excursion thru Disney but he now has had about 4 surf lessons total and felt that he could go out by himself. He rented a board on the north shore for $25 for the day
Saw a monk seal today. We walked on the road to paradise cove and then assessed the public beach through the parking lot Much easier than walking behind the four seasons
When to Waikiki. We did some shopping. The resort does offer a shuttle bus but we drove there. We parked at the Ala Moana mall which is free and then hopped on the pink line trolley ($2 per person each way) to get to the beach and the shopping along the beach. The pink line goes to all the hotels in Waikiki. The Disney store at the mall carries the stitch with the ukulele stuffed character
Saw lots of characters walking around Aulani. They were out every afternoon. There were times there was no one at Minnie and she was just standing around. My daughter and another girl were doing the game that uses the iPad and Stitch came along and actually played part of the game with them
When we first got there the weather was awesome but towards the end of our week it did get a little colder in the evenings. You needed a hoodie. But cold is all relative since I am now getting ready to go on a flight back home where there still is snow
All in all we had an amazing time. Wish we didn't have to go home but we will back since Aulani is one of our home resorts
