Leaving a trailer overnight?

First of all, I'm getting sooo excited for our upcoming trip to the Fort! I have the entire month of January off and hubby is a SAHD, so we are leaving this frozen tundra of Wisconsin (that we love!) and will be there for three weeks!!

Somehow, however, we had a miscommunication about the dates and he has us arriving a day earlier than our ressie is for at the fort. So, after reading Ed's plan of attack of getting there at 0700 and trying to pick campsites, etc, I'm thinking of spending the first night at one of the resorts in order to do the same. My question is, have any of you ever heard of them letting you park your trailer in the Fort lot overnight unoccupied? I doubt the hotel resort can accommodate our parking needs. My back up plan is to see if we can just stay in one of the popup sites that first night (only thing available). Our camper is one of the expandable/hybrid pop out beds kind. I'm not sure if that qualifies. Any thoughts?

Yes, I know what you're thinking--just adjust your travel dates...my inner 10 year old doesn't want to, lol

Chances are the Fort will NOT let you park your trailer (empty or not) in their overflow lot. That being said, it's my understanding that Most (if not all) of the resorts can accommodate trailers in the back of the lot. Worst case scenario, you can park it at the back of the TTC lot assuming you are staying at a WDW resort, this shouldn't be an issue. Plus Parking is included with your stay at the WDW resorts.

Alternatively, you could call ahead and see if they have an opening that day earlier. When we went down to the fort in August 2016, we ended up arriving a day early. When we realized this, we called ahead to see if they had an opening. They did so we checked in a day early. (In our case the site was a preferred and the next day we had to move to our "Premium" site so that could possibly be an issue too)

Staying at the Fort that first night would honestly be ideal. I don't mind changing sites, we do that sometimes at the state parks during the summer. It takes all of 15-20 minutes. We have that down pat! Right now the only sites open are popup kind. Do you know if we can park our hybrid in one of those for the night?

There were trailers parked in the popup sites this summer. But we've also seen plenty of RVs and trailers in the resort parking lots. If you could get a site in the Fort, I would do that.

Woo hoo!! A preferred site opened up for the 3rd, so I was able to call and add it to our ressie. I've been stalking the WDW reservation site multiple times a day. It opened up after I posted this question...crisis averted! Now, to hope and pray that the winter weather cooperates for our drive down!

Now, we only have to move once for the last week. We are in preferred from 1/3-1/20 and then move to a premium for 1/20-1/24. Maybe it will all work out and we won't have to move then either!

Great news. But just for those watching.

We were there all last week for eight days. I saw multiple campers in the overflow lot and some had been there the entire eight days we were there. Not sure what was up. Maybe they were on a cruise or something but they were there a long time.

We left this past Sunday. On Saturday, there were so many people coming in that at least a dozen were parked in the grass where the buses leave the overflow lot by the gate.

We have a 19 ft hybrid. Haven't camped at Ft. Wilderness but we've never had a problem in a pop-up site at any of the State parks we've camped at.
