Leave Volo in the box and check it?

Hi Maclaren Volo lovers. Mine just came in the mail in a nice box with a handle. Wondering if I should just leave it in the box and check it at the desk at the airport? Does it need to be assembled? Do they charge you extra for it?

We won't need it at the airport, so thought it might be just easier to leave it in the box and this way ME just delivers it to the room. Any thoughts? Anyone ever do this?

I don't remember if we had to assemble our Maclaren or not. You could open it up, check the instructions and tape the box back up again. When checking our stroller we always roll it to the gate and just pick it up again after the flight. It's handy to throw the carryons in it...one less thing to lug around!

I just got mine in the mail too!:thumbsup2

I opened it up and it is almost fully assembled. The canopy is not on the stroller but it looks like it basically snaps on without tools. I think that is how I "assembled" my Triumph when it came.

I kept the box and I'm not sure if I am going to use it to check the stroller or not. I am thinking about getting a double carry bag and gate checking both strollers at the airport. My DD2 will be secured in one of the strollers while we wait at the airport (she MUST be restrained in something or she'll run all over the place!) but I am sure that DD4 will be fine walking on her own. She loves pulling her little rolling carryon around. The more I think about it, the more I think that I will check the Triumph (in the box?) and use the Volo for DD2 at the airport.

It comes assembled except for the shade. It also has a carry strap on the back so if you carried just the stroller, I think it would be easier than lugging the whole box.

volos are under 10 pounds so really easy to carry by the carrying strap. I carried it and a large heavy purse and a diaper bag for 2 a good distance with no problems and I am a big wimp. The box would just be extra luggage to deal with in my mind, why not just roll it around and take advantage of the storage area on the stroller?

we had two volos at the airport. One with a 2 year old and one full of our "stuff" as the 4 year old walked mostly. Gate checked both in their gate check bags and reversed it when we deplaned. easy as pie. on one leg of the "airport journey" we had two very sleepy toddlers and boy was I glad to have 2 strollers to haul them around in.
