Leave for Paris after park day or next morning?

We are arriving from the U.S. in August and heading straight to DLP. We should be there by 13:00 at the latest, so we will have a good amount of time that day in the parks. We are staying that night at Sequoia Lodge and will go the parks the next day. I currently have that second night booked at Sequoia. However, I am now thinking it might be better to finish that second day in the parks and head into Paris that night. Does anyone have any suggestions for which plan would be better for our departure to Paris?

It really depends on how much you want to accompolish and want your goals are for this visit.

You will probably be jetlagged flying from West to East and it is the summer holiday in Europe, it is going to be busy. Take it slow on your first day, take it in, have a sit down dinner, and save day 2 to get a lot accomplished.

With 1.5 days in summer you won't be able to do it all, so it is about your priorities and touring style whether or not you should make it a full day on your second day.

If you do want to do as much as possible on day 1, start by grabbing lunch at the airport. Even if you arrive earlier than 13.00, you will arrive in the middle of lunch hour. You are probably tired from your flight, in an unfamiliar park (first visit?), the last thing you want to do is look for a place to eat when everyone is hungry and tired.

The best reason to keep the extra night: due to jetlag you might not be able to stay awake on day 1 for the fireworks.

Very helpful! So, I'll put my plan out there for feedback: after a 10 day Paris/Normandy trip in late June, we are heading to the Sequoia Lodge on a Sunday with plans to roam one of the parks that evening. Monday and Tuesday devoted to the two parks (we have been to both, about 15 years ago), and maybe Wednesday morning hitting anything missed before heading to the airport. This last week of June seems like a good time to go-- I saw you can buy lightening tickets (or something like that), but probably no need. Just the two of us-- our kids are all out on their own. I have our hotel/ticket package purchased, and it is all downloaded in the park app, along with a list of marked favorites. Any suggestions? Thanks 😊

Karin is correct Stay the 2nd night

Question is Why do you have to go to Paris after your 2nd park day ?

Remember Daylight is Fading in August so trying to find your way around Paris could be difficult

Paris is 6 hours ahead of New York time

I don't have a specific reason for leaving after 2nd park day. I was just thinking maybe it would be good to head to Paris and get settled into that hotel. Then we could wake up the next morning already in Paris to start touring the city.

Thanks for the advice. You all pointed some good reasons for keeping the second night, so I think I will just keep it as planned with two nights there. That will also give us 2 rope drop mornings if we need it to do everything we want to accomplish.

Personally I think your plans sound great, it gives you plenty of time in the parks and not rush everything and also time to see some shows, would highly recommend Mickey and the Magician in the Studio park and Lion King in the main park. I took my family end of June a few years ago and it was a heatwave, which took me by surprise ( and had to recycle my one light dress a day more than I had bargained for!) so that may be something to consider.

Thanks! And great point about the weather-- I think it will be safe to assume warm weather in June so we'll leave at home heavy stuff but have layers just in case. My hope is that we'll have walkabout time in the parks and Village (sounds like the pool at Sequoia may still be closed when we are there, but no biggie). Another question: the map indicates there was or will be a boat option from Sequoia across the lake to the Village, but I haven't read anything about it-- maybe it was or is planned? I know it is an easy walk around, but a boat option would be fun!

Skip the village if you are short on time. Disney Village cannot be compared to a Disney Springs or Downtown.

And yes in a time long ago, there was a boat to the other side of the lake. It hasn't been operational for years. Probably because walking the 5 minutes around the lake is quicker. I think from one side to the other is maybe 200 feet.

We left at the end of the day (ended up heading back to get our bags at Art of Marvel during the 19:30 fireworks). It was perfect for us as the RER was pretty empty, my son fell asleep on the train, and we had no problem finding our AirBnB off of the Champs Elysees. We were able to sleep in the next morning and then begin the Paris "proper" part of our trip the next morning at the Orangerie. We have been to Paris before (this was my 6th trip), so I feel really comfortable using the RER, so they may affect your decision if this is your first time in Paris.
