Leave a Legacy- What does it look like?

I haven't been to WDW since they started this, and I have been told it looks kind of like a graveyard- ick. We're trying to decide which option to choose with our UPHs and I was wondering if anyone has pictures of what it looks like so I can see for myself. Since you have to choose your option when you check in, I won't be able to get a chance to go look at it before we decide. If someone has pictures and could post them or PM me I would really appreciate it.

Thanks princess:

Are you talking about the Leave a Legacy at Epcot? If so, it's your name written in stone on the ground (you can walk on). Doesn't look like a graveyard.

Amirah95, I think you're confused. Leave a Legacy is at Epcot. It is those huge black stones (that I agree do give off a graveyard feel). The stones with the names on them are at MK and they are no longer for sale.

SRUAlmn: I'm sure if you do a search of Leave a Legacy you can see pictures of the "tombstones." The actual leave a legacy tile that you purchase is 1 inch square and your image is engraved on it. These tiles are then affixed to the tombstones.

OK...so what are those things on the ground? It looks like the names of people and where they are from in the cement. I know what you're talking about now at Epcot...I didn't get a graveyard feel when I saw them, but then again I went in May when they had the Flower and Garden Festival.

I don't recall seeing anything on the ground at Epcot. As I said there is an area at the entrance to MK that has stones that people purchased. Most of these have their names and the date of their trip. Some have anniversaries on them. I'm trying to remember the name of this program....I'm thinking it was something like 'Walk around the World." They do not offer this anymore.

If there is an area at Epcot where there are names engraved, let me know where it's at and maybe that will spur my memory.

I'm sorry...I saw them on the ground at MK...just before the ferry station.

Yeah, those were the bricks that you used to be able to purchase. It was something like "Walk around the World" or something similar to that.

SRUAlmn,

Leave a Legacy is a program at Epcot. You get your photo taken alone or with someone else, and the photo is etched into a plaque that is placed on one of the large obelisks inside the front entrance of Epcot. My son and I had our faces etched and placed on one of the obelisks. I make a point of showing friends and family our photo whenever we pass the area.

In my opinion, they are overpriced low-quality 1 inch by 1inch black and white photo on a rock with 1000 other people on the same rock.

They'll probably throw those eye sores out of the entrance eventually anyways.

I will celebrate that day like I celebrated the pink cake castle being painted away! Is there still space on the tombstones for more pictures?

Obviously, they are not to everyone's liking ;) , but we rather enjoy visiting ours each trip. Here are some pics:

Thanks!! Now I can show my DBF and we can make an informed decision ;) They are a little tombstoney. Now I have to decide which is worth more to me, this (which like DavefanBen said will probably be gone in a few years) or a meal at Planet Hollywood. Hmm....

P.S. Someone mentioned them being overpriced. If you choose them for your UPH option you don't have to pay, right? If you do, there's my decision made for me :)

We enjoy looking at ours when we go back, too! A copy of our photos is in my signature. :)

I guess I am out numbered. We like them. We also have a Brick at Mk. It is fun to go see ourselves each time we visit Epcot. When we were there with the grandkids they thought it was great that we had our pictures on a wall at Epcot (Disney).

It is very furturerist (sp) when you are entering the parks, but you are walking right into future world when you enter , sooooooooooo the theming..

I like them. We're getting one in Dec.

:)

And yes, they won't be there forever, but they'll last a lot longer than a meal at Planet Hollywood.

If you do opt to eat at PH, go on a weeknight. Weekends there can be scary...

I had been wondering myself about those legacy tiles. I really didn't even know what they were talking about. Glad I got to see them here.

We have 2 bricks at MK so guess I will have to get the tiles when we go in Oct.

I purchased a tile in '03 and had our families names engraved on it You can have up to 7 lines on it with about 12 or so characters. We have only seen it once and I can see us visiting it every time we go back. It's like leaving a piece of us there. As far as the cost, it's relatively inexpensive. The CSR told me that it is not a permanent exhibit but it is guaranteed to stay there for 20 years. May as well get used to navigating the "tombstones" as you go in to Epcot. It's a lot easier though if you have your name or picture to WOW at every time!

When we got ours we were told the "Guaranteed for 20 years" thing too.

We like ours! I look forward to the day 20 years from now when my children can laugh at my dh and I and how funny we must have looked. We always stop on the way in and out to look at ours and the people around us.

With your UPH one tile is free. And if I understand correctly if you have an AP when you buy a tile you get one free.

We are meeting my twin sister and her husband there this Sept. and I can't wait to be in a tile with my sister! I think they are a lot of fun. Although, I do agree that the monument itself is a bit of an eyesore!

Does that include the 7 lines of engraving that someone spoke of, or is that just for the picture? Now I'm thinking that maybe I like them ;) I'll have to see when DBF gets home.

Thanks for all the help :teeth:
