whats the point in threads like this. I mean just seems so juvenile. Whatever happened to differewnt strokes for different folks. Who cares if one person likes aresort over another itspersonal preference in fact im tired of reading all this stuff about one resort over another.Because when it comes right down to it i will stay at the one that is available just seems to me that mosr of the time on these boards people dont act very disney like. You people want to believe your somehing your not when it comes down to it your just petty resort bashing homers and i get tired of it i belong to this community for 90 percent of the board who are good people you can get good info from. you dont really want the answer to thesewe questions youor only interested in the reaction and thats sad. i actually feel sorry for you cause it must be sad living your life like that.

I think the point to threads like this is to find out what people like or dislike about certain resorts. Yes it is personal preference. But I suspect there is a great deal in life that is affected by the preferences of others. Did you like the latest movie? How is that new restaurant down the street? Did you like the service at the auto dealership? All consumer purchase demographics are personal preferences. It is a way to learn and to share. One can share less than glowing comments about a resort without bashing it.

In fact the range of answers supports your comment -- different strokes for different folks. It is part of what makes society so interesting.

Huh? The purpose of this poll (jointly with the "favorite resort" poll) was to find out why people rank resorts the way they do. Many (not all) people have a favorite resort that is their first choice for every vacation. Others don't really care where they stay. But either way, when you call for a reservation, you need to start somewhere...you must have an order in which you request resorts. Why is your last choice your last choice? I didn't see any "resort bashing" in any of the posts. Most posters gave an honest opinion of why a specific resort was their "least favorite", but they also said they would stay at those resorts.

I didn't see any posts recommending that people don't go to a specific resort. I didn't see any advice given in this thread. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this thread only supported the idea of "different strokes for different folks".

I voted for HH. I do still enjoy this resort and will return, but I dislike the dark interiors and much prefer lighter, beachier themes like VB, BCV, BWV, OKW, etc.

I agree that this thread is all about "different strokes..." etc. It is GOOD to be able to read about the pros and cons of each resort so those who have not stayed at every resort can read all of the opinions in order to help with vacation planning, etc. We know that these are OPINIONS and as such we can take them with a grain of salt...ignore them...ask for more info., and so on.

I would politely ask you to take your own advice as well. When AKV was first announced, you bashed it pretty hard (and it isn't even built yet)...your whole "stinky animals" comment upset several people here. Yet you are now claiming "different strokes." So I truly hope that you have come around to believe that the whole "different strokes" philsophy really is how we should all view this thread and others.

Peace. :goodvibes

Hilton Head looks great but good weather is more limited, prime time is heard to get unless you own there and it's not at WDW.

We didn't care for Hilton Head -- dark decor, distance from the beach and limited on site dining options.

BIG vote for Saratoga Springs .. we booked there earlier this month because no availability anywhere else. It was totally lacking in ambience department for us. That, along with roads and cars spread through the resort, we didnt feel like we were at Disney. We would save our points and stay at a Coronado Springs or POR before we would stay there again.

Haven't stayed at VB or HH, so I don't include them in my "preference" list.

BCV would be my least favorite. We actually used to own a number of points there, but decided the things that make it special to most BCV devotees are pretty much non-factors for us. We don't care about walking to parks (we're on vacation and never in a hurry anyway) and themed pools have no appeal whatsoever for DW & me. We're more content using the "neighborhood" pools at whichever resort we stay anyway.

Would we stay at BCV again? Absolutely, in a heartbeat. The fact that it would be my last choice in no way should imply that we find anything objectionable about it. We simply prefer the offerings of the other resorts more.

I couldn't vote! Two months ago, I had a clear-cut least favorite, but we recently gave it one more try and now it's right up there with my other 4 (soon to be 5!) favorite WDW DVC resorts.

I voted HH. As they say in real estate. "Location, location, location" And I think a "beach" resort should be ON the beach (or at least a short a walk) Disney came in late and wasn't willing to pay for a prime location IMHO.

I voted Saratoga Springs .... not a place we desire to ever stay again. It is an empty, sterile place - not Disney.

I voted for Hilton Head.

* It was way too far from the beach (shuttles stopped running long before many people were ready to head back to the resort, so they ended up walking).

* The rooms are extremely dark. They really need to brighten the colors up. Borders on gloomy.

* No on-site restaurant. What were they thinking? Yes, there are many pizza places and diners in the Hilton Head area, but if I'm at a Disney resort, I would love to dine at a Disney restaurant. DVC really missed the mark here.

* Just my opinion, but this resort is almost completely un-Disney. In desperate need of some magical, Disney-esque touches.

* Gift shop that sold almost nothing specific to that resort. Very disappointing.

The poll results are about what I'd expect. I know SSR and OKW are polarizing because of the sizes and condo-style design - so I'd expect a number of responses there, and I know the dark decor/theme of VWL tends to make people love it or hate it. Obviously HHI and VB are not at Disney, and that hurts them in these polls. But BWV?????

I would have guessed that BWV would have, by far, the lowest number of people ranking it as a least favorite. I have not stayed at BWV (yet), but I assumed it has a little bit of everything: Epcot location, plentiful dining, whimsical theme, reasonable point structure, community hall. Our first trip to BWV is in less than three weeks and this poll is making me a bit nervous. Is there something I don't know? Are there creepy clown black velvet paintings in the bathrooms or something? :confused3

I think it's the long hallways. We love it there, not as much as VWL, but close enough to own most of our points there (for the views), and to be excited when our BWV trips come around. It's the DVC resort that most of our family/friends/guests ask for!

I also think that since most people are not BWV owners, maybe they have tried for and not gotten, Boardwalk view or Standard view, and are upset with the "preferred" view. They may be thinking "for the price of boardwalk view, I got "this" view."

Also, there is the problem of the rainy Orlando afternoons and at BWV, you have to go outside to get to any of the food, or grocery store options. It's an inconvenience for sure. I got totally drenched once when the skies opened as I was leaving the Screen Door going back to our room.

Have a great time! You are wise to try it and see for yourself!!!

You've been a regular on these boards for a while so you should know that polls and comments need to be taken with a grain of salt. There are many ardent fans of BWV, as there are of every DVC resort.

I think that if someone likes laid back resorts, or stand alone resorts (OKW, SSR, VWL), then the perceived hustle and bustle of BWV might put them off. Then of course there are the long halls. :rolleyes1

We own at VWL and BWV, and enjoy thoroughly staying at each.

Nope, just the creepy clown slide that for whatever reason freaks a lot of people out!

BTW, I think this thread had a lot of potential to get ugly and the posters have done a great job of just stating opinions (without bashing) and others accepting that not everyone likes the same thing. It would be nice if that respect of others' opinions carried over to more threads! :)

:rotfl: Now I am really curious about the hallways!! :rotfl: They can't be that long. Are valet services a "must" for luggage delivery?

We got a BW View room for this trip - just to get the full "Boardwalk" experience. I am excited about it! We stayed at the Swan last year and walked around one night - and I really liked what I saw of the Boardwalk area. :thumbsup2

ITA! In general, it seems like the DVC Disboards are a much kinder, gentler place these days.
