Hello everyone!

There are so many events happening in October, and I was wondering what week would be least crowded. I saw from the 20th onward is event-free (aside from MHP of course) is that a good time for an 8 day visit?

Thank you! :)

Yes. It will get better after the 20th and during the week of Halloween. The weekends will still be busy though.

I generally agree that after the 20th (Utah schools are out through the 19th) things will improve in the parks for a bit. The weekends are still going to be crowded as folks come in to see the Halloween decorations and activities. There will a good number of MHP during that time period (10/20, 10/22, 10/24, 10/27, 10/29, and 10/31), which means DL will close at 6:00 pm (non-Fri night parties) or 7:00 pm (Fri night parties) to non-party guests.

It's worth noting that Small World is likely to be down from 10/27 through early-November as the holiday overlay is installed. The dates have not yet been announced, but based on the historical pattern, Small World goes down on the last week of October.

Thanks Figment! :) Did you mean 10/27 for Small World? I hope it's not 8/27! I'm already missing out on Matterhorn (as it's down) and all the thrill rides b/c I'm pregnant, Small World was one I was looking forward to!

Didn't notice the amount of MHP, thanks for letting me know. If I try to go from the 20-28 and get two nights of tickets, hopefully I can be in the park for all but one of those nights (spend most our time in DLP, DCA isn't really our cup of tea).

Thanks for all the great info!

Sorry about that, yes, I meant 10/27. I'll fix it in the original post to avoid confusion.

I don't know how accurate that is! We went last year around the 24th, I beleive, Thursday through Sunday and the park was packed! The party we went to was packed too.

I don't think October has a slow time anymore. We've been going in October for probably about 5 years now and it seems to get busier and busier every year.

We went during Gay Days (first weekend in Oct 2012) and it was OMG crazy... so if you can skip that, I would.

Oh no I really don't want to miss it's a small world. Our first day in the parks are the 27th!

From what I can tell, IaSW closes for 18-days to have the holiday overlay installed. So last year, it was down from 10/21/13 to 11/07/13 (re-opened on Friday, 11/08/13). They have not yet announced the dates for this year's Holiday season at DLR, but if it starts on 11/07/14, IaSW will close on 10/20/14. If the holiday seasons is pushed back until 11/14/14, then IaSW will likely close on 10/27/14. Unfortunately, either way, it's unlikely that IaSW will be open on the 27th because it's highly unlikely that DLR will wait until the weekend before Thanksgiving to start the Holiday seasons.

We were there the last week of October 2013. During the week it wasn't too bad. Weekends were packed! We went to the MHP on Monday night and it was pretty crowded too. I wish we could have gone on a Tuesday night.

I feel many of the party goers made it a long weekend, adding to the crowd.

We had a great time though.

Oh disappointing but thanks for the heads up.
