Learned something new from MS today

Well, today was the 7 month window for me to change one of my VWL nights to BWV for our July trip. We own at both resorts, but wanted an even stay at both, since we own more VWL points than BWV. I had booked my entire stay for the dates I wanted with the points I had available, just had to switch one night over. Anyway, MS was UNABLE to add the night to my BWV ressie, since the BWV ressie was booked with home resort priority using VWL points. She said (I'm not sure if she was right) that the system wouldn't let her do it, and her options were canceling the entire reservation and rebooking it (which she did since all days were available) or creating a new reservation for the one night and linking them together, we wouldn't have to move or re-checkin or out, but I thought it was weird. So, was she right or did I just get an uninformed CM. This is my first time using points from two separate resorts and trying to combine the points as we just added on in August.

I had the same thing happen to me. I had booked two nights at BCV at the 11 month window and wanted to add 3 more at the 7 month window with OKW points. She told me she would have to make another reservation and link the two. When I got my confirmation however it was a confirmation for all 5 nights for April so I am not sure if I have two reservations that are linked or one reservation. Just wanted to let you know I had the same experience.

You actually have two reservations in the system, but one reservation on paper. This is what the CM explained to me they do if all nights aren't available to rebook, just the nights you want to add are.

When ever I book using some of my and some of my Mom's points it is always a bit odd. I get two different confirmation numbers, but only one confirmation sheet with all nights listed. The last time I showed up at the BCV, they looked at their screen and said so you are checking out on Wednesday, I said no, it is not until Sunday, they then said oh yes I see that. I made the reservation until Wednesday with my points and then to Sunday with hers. Boy did that make me worry. Oh and to make matters worse, apparantly one it switches over to her point nights, her address shows up on the screen. Because my husbands key stopped working and we went down to get new keys and they asked us to "confirm" what city we lived in so we they weren't giving keys to somone else. So when we told them the city, they said no, that is not what this says. Well, we told them thats what city we live in. He said that wasn't what his screen said. We eventually figured out it was my Mom's address.

And this is just one of the things that the poor souls in DVC IT will have to handle when implementing on-line reservations. CMs who do this for a living are often stumped by some of the byzantine intricacies of the DVC reservation system - can you imagine how confusing it could be for a low-tech once.a.year DVC owner?

I love DVC & Disney, and I'm a pretty fair software engineer - but I think I'd run screaming from the room if asked to put together an estimate! (But then I'd start thinking of ways to solve the problems )

Maybe you should offer your services!!! I'm sure having an actually DVC member do the software development would actually mean it would work!!!!!!!
