We are going to WDW in May and our 4 older children decided to join us. We have AP's (the younger 4 are the only ones that really want to go now, the older ones ditch us for the beach) but they do not so I needed to buy them 4 day tickets. A local school (not even the one my children go to) had an auction and one of the items they auctioned was (4) 1 day tickets with park hoppers. I thought awesome, I could just upgrade at the park and the school would get the money. Bid $450 and won. Got home with the tickets and it says they can't be upgraded so I essentially just wasted a bunch of money I didn't really have to waste. I'm pretty bummed. I thought all tickets could be upgraded at the park.

That was going to be my same suggestion - one kid can use all 4 days...or you can buy everyone 3 day normal passes and use the last day to hop. There is very little savings going from 3-4 days anymore, so you really haven't lost too much on the donation...

That is a bummer. My daughter's multi-day park hoppers that we get from cheerleading events are not eligible for upgrade. The funny part is the cheer passes we got from Universal Studios competitions were eligible to upgrade. Maybe something else will work out that you can use that ticket for?

The tickets that they donate are comp tickets and can't be upgraded in any way.

Have one person use all 4 tickets and buy new 4-day tickets for everyone else. Or save them for a future 1 or 2 day trip.

I think that's what I'm going to do. Thank you all for the advice. I was really bummed thinking we lost a few hundred dollars extra we didn't really have.

I wonder if I can load all 4 tickets onto 1 persons magicband and them just use them consecutively.

You can.

This came up some time ago (last year or late 2015 can't remember) on a thread (I'm sure it's not the only one).

I believe from what I learned generally speaking when tickets are used at auctions/fundraisers, etc they are supposed to list the rules regarding the tickets..I think it's because they are a specific type of ticket given to them from Disney.

Was there any stipulations listed? I would contact that school (if you felt up to it) and speak with them regarding this.

My son won 4 one day parkhoppers in a golf tournament and gave them to us.

I was surprised that they had to be used by August 2018 (which I was fine with), but then had a black out date for December 25. Why would you black out Christmas Day but not New Year's Eve if you are worried about the winner going into a park on a busy day? I just thought that was strange for wdw to do.

They also couldn't be upgraded as stated in the letter that came with the tickets.

We had a similar situation at our school, and I was going to buy as well and try to upgrade to APs. What we were told (prior to making the purchase) was that the tickets from the fundraiser were considered "complimentary" and therefore could not be upgraded.
