Has anyone purchased the new Leapster LMAX, if so, what do you think about it? My daughter has the Leapster and she loves it but I have seen the new Leapster LMAX which has new games and you can hook it to the tv. I noticed that the screen is a little smaller on the LMAX than it is on the regular leapster. Is the resolution better?

Bumping as my dd wants one for Christmas. She has a Leap Pad but is outgrowing it. I'd love to hear some opinions on whether it's worth the money and how they hold up.

I have the same question. DS loves to play with both the LMax and the Leapster in the store, but I was leaning toward Leapster. Is the LMax going to replace the Leapster, though? I was wondering if new games would still be available for Leapster. Can't find any info. Any ideas?

I asked that in an email to leap frog and they told me that the games for the LMax you could also use on leapster.

well, my son got a lmax and he loves it. he did not take to well to the leappad with the books. the gaming appeals to the young kids. they think they are playing a video game and forget they are actually learning.

my question is so little lmax games for 8 yrs and up.
Will all the leapster games work in the l max?? any info i need to buy a birthday pr :rotfl: :cool1: :cool1:  esent soon. he wants more games. thanks, denise

We just got the LMax for christmas here and it has gone over like gangbusters for my 5 year old who has NEVER played a video game before this. The graphics are about the same on both units, the major differences seem to be that while the LMax games are supposed to be backward compatible this is only somewhat true. Some features will not work on the original leapster, that is what the company told us in an email. Also, the older games-only some of them will work on Lmax and some will only work on screen and NOT with the TV feature.

Anyhow, my dd is enjoying it immensely and has played with it for hours in the past week.

I did notice when looking at Leapster/Lmax games recently that they seem to be interchangable. Not sure if for all games--but saw distinctly an LMAX labeled package with "compatable with Leapster" on it (or something like that) and vice versa for 2 different games.

My daughter got leapster as that was all she could afford with her christmas money ($45 on sale :)). Her friend did get Lmax--but we just got back in town so didn't get to hear how she liked it just yet.

ETA: these were on new games in the store--so I'm wondering if when they develop new games that the compatibility is guaranteed. I had assumed the lmax only significant difference was being able to hook it up to a tv.
