Leapster 2

I plan on getting my 4 y.o. ds a leapster 2 for Christmas. Is my 7 year old dd too old for a Leapster2? Should I spend the extra money and get her a Nintendo DS? We are not gamers so I really don't know...

dd6 got her leapster when she was 4. She loved it, made her feel like it was her "gameboy" (the 3 other kids had gameboys at the time). One thing about the original leapster, it went through batteries fast! And the screen was hard to see if she had it outside or in a bright room. Looking back, it wasn't worth the $ to us, plus the games cost as much as gameboy games. Maybe the leapster 2 is improved.

Your 7yo probably would like it. My kids had the gameboys/ds lites. Those kinda grow with age. The leapsters are more for younger kids, they don't really grow with age. The look of them and the games.
