I had no idea where to post this, but I knew I could get an answer from these boards. The smartest people are on these boards!!!! So here's the quetion...My daughter is getting a Leap Pad for Christmas. She will be opening it before we leave to visit family. I am sure she will want to take it on the plane. Does it have a place for a headset? Not sure if all the other passengers will appreciate it as much as she does. Thank you, Thank you!!!

The regular leappads and the newer versions have a headphone plug. The first leappad does not. I insist my son uses the headphones since after 30 repetitions, I usually go

Ours has a volume control, which is usually good enough to keep from bugging everyone.

I just pulled DS's out of the backpack it sits in (another thing to look at , it has places for the cartridges, and books, so everything stays together. It's called a Leapad Backpack.) And yes, his has not only a volume control, but a headphone jack as well. Great idea.

Thanks! I knew you guys would give me the info I need. Can't wait for her to open it now.

They have a new case out that holds up to twelve books and cartridges. We had the backpack and they she got too many books.

DD loves hers.

I really recommend the headphones...EVEN WITH the volume control. My youngest usually attends alot of football and cheer things, and it is very LOUD.....the only way she can hear the leappad is WITH headphones! Good Luck!

I am going to ask a related question here I hope nobody minds but I have been trying to figure who to ask this question and this might be a good spot.
My DH and I have decided to get some sort of LeapPad for DD who is now 3 and will be 4 in Feburary. We decided to do this because DD3 has a speach delay which she is finally getting over with a lot of speach therapy, but she is behind her peers with letter and number recognition and I work with her daily with her speach and her letter and number recognition....we thought a LeapPad would be a good tool to have to work with her somemore. My question is the regular LeapPad is for 4 and up and the My First LeapPad is for 3 and up...which would be better for her and our needs? Views, insites, opinons?

We were thinking My First LeapPad might be better because she has little to no letter or number recognition....but I like the features of the regular LeapPad, but if it isn't right for her then it just isn't right for her.

Thanks in advance.

My 5 year old has both of them..and she still loves her First Leap pad the most! There are many more options with the regular pad, but...for your daughters age.. I would recommend the First Leap Pad for the next 2 years.. Good Luck!
