Le Cellier...yuk!

something that many will learn after spending some time on this board is that the most hyped restaurants tend to be some of the most average at best restaurants.

well... my family loved our lunch there and plan on going back. they raved about it. so all experiences aren't bad.

and the chocolate moose was the best part :lovestruc

This shows that not everyone here will like the same places. There are plenty of places we don't go to either. OP, at least you tried it. Personally for lunch I go for the soup, bread and often share the salad with my DH or DD. I think their filet is too tiny for what they charge. I agree that YSH has much better steaks....too bad they don't offer lunch! If it wasn't for the soup and bread, most of our family wouldn't go. Several in my group had the steak sandwich last trip and were under-whelmed. I too find the risotto too salty, some visits are worse than others. I ate here at least 3 times before trying to figure out if I liked it or not. Still the soup keeps me coming back.

We ate there 2 weeks ago and had wonderful service and found the filet good, but that's it good. I know it's lunch but the serving size of the filet was laughable, no where near 5 oz. My DH's was slightly bigger but mine was the size of the meatball. The person at the table next to us, who might as well had been dining with us they were so close, got a kick out of it as well. It did have good flavor as did the risotto. I am very sensitive to salt and was reluctant to try the meal but I didn't find it to be salty at all. My DH switched out for the mashed which I did find very rich and salty. I also thought the pretzel bread had a butterier taste than earlier and the soup had a stronger beer flavor.

I am happy I was able to try the restaurant but really don't understand the praise it receives.

We just returned. We ate there last week for lunch.

As everyone has mostly said, the service was outstanding (Daniel from BC was our server). Same with our hostess. We had our DD 16 mo with us and she was sleeping, so the hostess moved us to a corner table so our DD wouldn't be disturbed.

I liked the ambiance as well.

I was not overly impressed with the food relative to the hype I heard, but we still enjoyed it. I got the steak and it was good. A 7 out of 10. I'm a steak person too and know my steaks. Not the best steak for sure, but enjoyable and a good mix of flavor. I, too, thought the risotto was too salty, but again, I still liked it.

My wife got the Pesto Gnocci and she gave it a solid good, but not great. I tasted it and enjoyed it.

The breadsticks were another solid good.

The beer Moosehead Pale Ale was okay. Being from one of the top beer regions in the world, it's hard to impress me with beer. This was okay.

I'm glad we went. I had been waiting for years to try to get a reservation. I don't regret it at all even though lunch ran us $70 with tip and tax. I would likely not do LeCellier again for a while though, until I start seeing more consistent positive reviews.

I'll repeat this post when I do our Trip Report (pending).

Cheers.

I go to Le Cellier and I like it (not enough to get online at 6 AM 180 days out to make a reservation though). However, I never order steak. I know there are people on the boards who will say why even bother if you don't want steak. Le Cellier had the best mussels.

I always find the different feedback interesting to read. I do understand that many find this place enjoyable. Even if this place is not considered signature dining for lunch, I still expected a pretty darn good steak for $26.99...so I was definitely disappointed. I can say that I tried it, but it was too expensive to waste that kind of money again.

Besides the overall Disney mark up, those prices are also highly inflated so people on the DDP can feel like they got their money's worth. The DDP increases in cost by about $5 some years (and then there's the holiday increase), so this encourages people to purchase dining plans. Then they typically don't care about the quality of the food relative to its price.

Smart move. It's allowed quality to go down and people to be even happier than before. Value and 'discounts' are what it's all about now.

Very well stated and sadly so true. Unfortunatly Disney is using smoke and mirrors to fool people into thinking they are getting some kind of great deal, when in fact it's very average quality and expensive at that; and it's not just with Le'Cellier. :sad2:

We had lunch in Jan. and it will probably be our last time for awhile.

The food was fine but we as 2 diners always get wedged in at the smallest table known to humankind! For the money spent I would like not to have to share my napkin with the people at the next table!

I had hoped that with it moving to signature status for dinner that they might have reconfigured the seating but it sounds like no they are still shoehorning people into the room. I know this doesn't bother some people but it does us so we will skip it for awhile and try some other places.

Happy eating for those who give it a try!

I read so much about negative experiences but all of them I have seen that are honestly negative pertain to lunch dining experiences and Dinner prior to March 1 (Dinner Menu Change) I would be interested in more Dinner Reviews of the current menu which brought along with it a new chef. Because I can and would like to, I will post a review no pictures after my dinner there in August.

Cheers,
Kyle
