Le Cellier...YAY or NAY

Is Le Cellier on par with other steak restaurants?

YAY!

Since our first dinner there it's a must for every vacation now. As some other posters have stated, I've also eaten at some of the best (and worst!) NYC steakhouses and DH and I found the NY Strip and filet mignon to certainly be on par with the best. We've dined there with my inlaws, who loved the food, too.

To each his own, but our family loves Le Cellier.

We absolutely love Le Cellier but (gasp) actually don't care for the cheese soup.

Le Cellier is a must for us on every trip :thumbsup2

I vote nay. We were there last December on the dinning plan. I ordered the mushroom fillet cooked rare. My steak was overcooked and my risotto was undercooked (rice was still crunchy). I would have liked to send it back but couldn't find our server.

Having said all that I would give the restaurant another chance. I realize that any restaurant could have an off night but the tables were too close together. I had read about this before we tried the restaurant and I thought that it wouldn't bother me but it really did. We were a table for 2 right between 2 tables for 4. Both families were speaking at a normal level but it was impossible not to hear every word they said. I felt like I was sitting at there table. It was very distracting and hard to ignore. This was our worst meal of the week. Sorry

I voted Yay. While not a rave, it certainly was very good. I enjoyed the Cheese Soup with Pretzel Bread very much. The Filet was fine although I had a better one at The Concourse. Creme Brulee was excellent and our server was friendly and attentive. Interesting to me that this restaurant seems to have the largest number of polar opposite experiences. I guess I was there on a "good" night!

Wow...this is so opposite every experience we've had at Le Cellier. We didn't notice anyone else's conversations this past May or ever in the past, but I can absolutely understand how annoying this would be if it happened to us.

We love Le Cellier...and I think it is an especially good deal if you are on a dining plan.

Le Cellier has been very hit or miss recently. When it's a "hit", it is very nice and certainly well worth it. Of course, if it's a "miss", you can expect long waits past your ADR seating time and harried servers who don't have the time to check in on your table as often as they would like.

But I'd still say yea! Hope for the best and have a great trip!

We had a fabulous dinner here last week. The food was incredible. Ask to see if Patrick is working when you are there. He is an excellent server and a hoot. :goodvibes My mom developed a crush on him. :p

Just wanted to thank you all for your replies....I'm still torn, though. Oh well, maybe we'll just give it a shot just to say we did.
