Le Cellier...YAY or NAY

Le Cellier has been on our list of places to try each trip, but, for whatever reason, we have never made it. This trip I was determined to go. But, have been reading a lot of negative comments on these boards and now I'm wondering if the experience will be worth it. My group loves their steaks and I wouldn't want to disappoint.

To those who have been, would you choose Le Cellier over Yachtsmen or other steak place? I realize most of the other restaurants that serve great steak are 2TS, but that wouldn't be a problem if Le Cellier is not on par. Please let me know what you think.

Been to Le Cellier, didn't care for the meat or vegetables. Pricey for the portion. Yachtsman Steakhouse has become our one night steak extravaganza. Top sirloin, mushrooms in cognac, fresh baked rools and roasted garlic, and a baked potato, smothered in butter. We sometimes throw in the lobster adder. We prefer this resturant over Canada, seems better quality aged beef, great ambience and atmosphere and dessert we get from Beaches and Cream. Our top pick.

If you get to Le Cellier, you may need ADR's, you have to try the cheese soup. It's made with beer and it's incredible. I've gotten it before with a sandwich and was unable to finish the sandwich. This year I'm planning on just getting the soup $4.99 and eating the yummy breadsticks with it.

Also, as with many TS restaurants, Le Cellier is much cheaper at lunch time.

Honestly you will always see mixed reviews on ALL restaurants because not everyones tastes are the same. My first and only experience with Le Cellier I didnt care for my entree (it was a special shoulder and lobster) but I loved everything thing else from the ambience to our waitress and the rest of the food and my DS LOVEd it so we are going back I just know to order something else.. I say try it especially if you have always wanted to..

We hit Le Cellier on every trip. I've eaten in a dozen steakhouses, from the big national guys (Ruths Chris, Mortons, Palm) to the legendary NY places (Ben Benson, Sparks, among others) and a few in between, and the Mushroom Filet at Le Cellier can stand next to any steak from any of those places. While I would prefer a good 2.5 lb lobster to complete my surf and turf, Le Cellier has a maple butter lobster tail that is wonderful. Yeah, I know....thought the same thing, maple and lobster? It's good! One time I ordered a special at Le Cellier (I think it was called a Chef's Cut, or some such thing - came with that great tail) and it was a terrible piece of meat, so stay away from that. But if you go with the Filet you are golden. I've had the NY Strip as well and it was very good. The sides at Le Cellier are very good, too. The breads, particularly the pretzel bread, are a hit. I think you'll enjoy it.

Yes, that special is TERRIBLE. As mentioned above, I think they called it a Chef's Cut. Tough, no flavor......big disappointment. The lobster tail saved the meal. Outside of that particular entree we've never been disappointed in anything from Le Cellier.

We ate at LeCellier's on our WDW trip last June. It was okay, the soup and bread sticks were the best part of the meal. The service was good but it took us almost 2hrs to finish our meal maybe it's always takes that long or maybe it was a slow night whatever the reason it seemed a little long for me. The steak wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be either. I probably won't be going back there for a while but there are others who love this restaurant so maybe you would have a great experience! Have a great trip

DH and I loved Le Cellar. We actually shared a meal and it was plenty. Of course those breadsticks are a wonderful way to fill up a bit too. The Cheese soup was fantastic and the creme brulee is still in our dreams on a regular basis. The steak was also very good. The only thing I didn't love is that it is very dark in there. Sometimes it is a BIG change walking back out into the bright Florida sunshine. A bit hard on the eyes! I would sure give it a try.

I think the steak at Concourse Steakhouse and Yatchmans is far more supierior and service far out weights LeCellers.

YAY! but it's a steakhouse, so orer steak, not seafood.
Don't go to a seafood place and order steak either.

We ate at both LeCellier and Yachtsman Steakhouse in October. We make LeCellier a stop on each trip, as DH loves his this restaurant. Everything from the food, to the ambience through the CM's have been enjoyable each time.
Last October Yachtsman was our second trip there and I was very excited. It was the meal I most looked forward to. The restuarant is beautiful, quiet, nice service etc, but we did not like our food. We were 3 adults and each of us was disappointed. I found the sauces and flavorings too intense and they overpowered the meat, the potatoes etc. I had the Maytag Blue Cheese sirloin and the sauce was overpowering, I was trying to scrape it off of the meat so that I could eat it. Even the Horseradish Mashed Potatoes were too intense - and I love horseradish.
WE were extremely disappointed and have agreed we will not be going back to Yachtsman Steakhouse. Many folks, however, love it here.
So as another poster had said, you will get postivie and negative reveiws on every restaurant, as peoples tastes differ. If you have always wanted to try LeCellier, I would try it, but maybe not expecting it to be the best steak you have ever had.

I gave it a YAY, but you have to realize I haven't eaten at Yachtsman or Concourse either.

With that said I LOVE Le Cellier and I had almost canceled my first ADR there as I thought the kids wouldn't like it. I fell in love and will never return to WDW w/out a stop there. It is the only place so far on my *must go everytime* list. I have it down for my first night back in the World in Sept. I can't wait for DH to try it as he didn't go on the last trip with us.

I'm with you Hopefully! We dined at Yachtsman for Dh's birthday dinner, my steak snob! I was so pleased with myself, ughhh, he loves lighthouses too! So you would think I scored good, big flop was his most hated dining pick!

Service was great, his steak and mine was so fatty it wasn't funny! He could eat maybe 1/4 of it and the same with mine. I felt horrible! The picture I have tells the story here, his photo looks like he was just kicked by a horse.

Thankfully, LeCellier saved me! It was along wait but well worth it! DH loved it! Yippeee!!!! That is his favorite place and wasover the moon. He said after dinner, he has a new found love for his northern neighbors. Canada, is now a good place! (why he thought oherwise, who knows and who cares) so long as the man is happy!

I had heard so many good things about Le Cellier that I made it a point to visit in Jan 06 with my mom and son. We were very disappointed. The mushroom filet was very fatty and not tender at all. I love all soups, but felt the cheese soup was just ok. As for the breadsticks, they are just soft breadsticks, even the pretzel ones; nothing special. The only good thing was dessert.

We've also visited the Concourse steakhouse and the quality of the steaks was much better there.

So I'm a Nay.

This was my DH's favorite place on our first vacation. My son was too young and didn't feel like sitting for very long but he did enjoy the bread. The food was great and we were on the free dining the first time so it was even more special. Our server wasn't the best as he was paying more attention to the larger group at the next table. This didn't take away from the experience. My first ADR for our Christmas vacation was to Le Cellier. Big Yay!!

Ohhh, I'm a YAY!

In May we made our first visit to Le Cellier and LOVED everything about it. My family of five agreed it was our best meal of the trip and is a "must do" for future trips.

I voted "NAY"

However - this is not to say that Le Cellier is a bad restaurant. Had a decent meal and great service there. I just found the quality of the steak more on a par with a mid-range local chain such as Outback Steakhouse or Bugaboo Creek, while the price was more in line with a place like Ruth's Chris or Morton's. If I was looking for a good steak on property I'd head to Shula's (which I don't think is even on the DP). Haven't tried Yachtmans (but plan to) it certainly has it's fans on these boards.

I'm a Yay!! It's a must do for us each trip. Our steaks have always been great, the soup is amazing and the creme brulee is out of this world!! Good Luck with your decision.
