My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon for next December and we have considered A LOT of places. We are not sure about Le Cellier and keep changing our minds. In your opinion...should we do it for lunch? For dinner? Both? Not at all? Would love to hear personal opinions and experiences.

Some things to mention: We eat almost anything and don't care if the restaurant is a bit cramped either. Just interested in the taste of the food!

If not Le Cellier, where else in the World Showcase would you dine?

Thanks!

I personally think Le Cellier is too over hyped. I didnt think my strip steak was spectacular at all. Not as flavourful and too fatty for some reason. The soup & bread sticks werent anything to write home about either. Many who have ordered the filet have loved it, so perhaps thats the way to go instead of the strip?

Also, the service was lacking. Waited too long for everything. If your really curious thou, i'd stick with lunch.

Lunch. Food's pretty good, not spectacular or anything. If my opinion means anything, because I don't order steaks.

Dinner was good, but it's quite expensive (dining plan or no dining plan).

I wouldn't go out of my way to go there or get up at 6 AM 180 days out to try and get a reservation though.

I like Biergarten, Via Napoli and Bistro de Paris (the last isn't on the dining plan). I also like San Angel Inn but you'll get a lot of people who hate it. La Hacienda's been pretty good but with service issues. Have had service issues a couple of times at Le Cellier and exemplary servers other times.

I agree that Le Cellier is overrated. Plus, it was recently made a 2 credit meal on the meal plan. Akershus in Norway is excellent if you don't mind the Princesses. If you want to venture out of the World Showcase, Coral Reef at The Living Seas is also fantastic. Possiblly the best in Epcot, especially since the Garden Grill at The Land went down the tubes.

The filet was not tough, pretty tasty, and cooked properly. I'm very sorry to say that many "steakhouses" fail on these three basics. But Le Cellier delivered. There wasn't anything that wow'd me, but it was done right.

Worth two DDP credits? Maybe. Worth a visit if you can snag an ADR? Sure.

I dont think Le Cellier is over rated. My family thoroughly enjoyed it. I would do the lunch though, dont think it's worth 2 credits for dinner.

Definitely OVER RATED...Better steak at the Yachtsman steakhouse ..In World Showcase we love Bistro de Paris for upscale, more intimate (non-dining plan), and Les Chefsde France if we are on a budget and have our daughter with us

Very over-rated, in my opinion. There are better choices in Epcot.

DH and I loved Le Cellier! We went there for our anniversary dinner this summer. We had a wonderful meal, good service and the atmosphere was nice. Where our table was situated was next to one of the archway divider pillars so it was actually a little more secluded feeling as opposed to out in the middle of everything. We have yet to eat at any other steakhouses on WDW property so I couldn't compare to anything but we loved our food at Le Cellier. The bread basket was very good....all of the breads were good but I fell in love with the pretzel bread. I had the Canadian Prime New York Strip and I added the baked macaroni and cheese, everything was delicious. DH had the beer and cheese soup and loved it, I tasted it and it was quite good. For his meal he had the Mushroom Filet Mignon and he loved that. After all of that food I didn't have room for desert but I just had to have that adorable chocolate moose so we got that to go. I would definetly eat here again and would recommend it :thumbsup2!

We also love Le Cellier and don't find it overrated. I think it's like anything that gets tons and tons of hype, people go in with really high expectations. But, we thougth the food was deliciuos and the atmosphere was great. I'd definiteiy recommend it for an anniversary meal. And, think the idea of dining in Canada and then making your way around the WS for drinks, ending with a margarita in Mexico, sounds fun :)

It totally depends. No one can answer this for you.

Opinions totally differed even within our family - we went a few months ago, and to my parents, this was their favorite meal of the entire trip, and one of their favorite meals EVER. I'm serious. To my husband (who is a serious foodie), this place was overrated, and nothing special.

I think most people would agree that you'll enjoy a meal here. Whether or not it's one of your favorites, that's a very personal decision.

Being from Chicago it is a bit overrated. However I will make lunch reservations 180 days out and thats because my family enjoys the Chedder Cheese soup. Wish they would serve it as a quicksnack some where in Canada. They do serve it as a very small snack during wine week.

We haven't been able to get in Le Cellier our first two trips to DW, but we have an ADR for this trip in Dec. and looking forward to it. Myself when I think of a "steakhouse" I don't think lunch, so were going for dinner. I can hardly wait, big juicy steak and an ice cold beer!! I'd be very suprised if we don't enjoy it. How overrated could it be when its booked solid 6 months in advance?

No for leCellier, I would do Rose and Crown, Or even the Fish and Chips before ever going to LC again.

We loved our lunch at LC, we split a soup and fillet. Both were really tasty (DBF probably would have licked the truffle butter off the plate if I let him :lmao:). We're trying dinner on our March trip. I'm not thrilled with the prices, but we'll try it once to see if dinner is worth it.

It's not terrible. But I think it's popularity is mostly due to the large amounts of Americans who iconicize steak and potatoes. To people who consider steak and potatoes to be the definition of an ideal meal, they naturally will like this restaurant.
I'm not a huge steak house person, but I've eaten at places like Ruth's Chris, Craft Steak, Bern's in Tampa (probably the best). I found Les Cellier to be very inferior to all of those places, but a step better than Outback.

Thus, if your tastes are much more varied than steak, there is a long list of more interesting restaurants at Epcot.

For example, I think the pizza at Via Napoli is excellent. So an excellent pizza... Or a so-so quality steak... Depends on your personal preferences.

Really enjoyed Le Cellier, (and it's not just because I'm Canadian :goodvibes )

DH and I went for our honeymoon over a year ago and had a nice dinner. We sat next to a pillar so we felt a sense of privacy. We both ordered the fillet and they were both cooked perfectly. Our server was super friendly and actually went to get another server because she lived one city over from us in Canada so it was fun speaking with her.

We went before dinner was 2 credits - but if you have the credits available I say use them - if not, then maybe try this restaurant for lunch!

Considering their signature dish is a filet mignon with mushrooms, risotto, and truffle butter sauce, I think you're being a bit harsh. Of course it's not Craftsteak or Bern's, but Via Napoli isn't Scarpetta and Bistro de Paris isn't Le Bernardin either.

The bottom line, IMO - Le Cellier lunch is an excellent value if you're on the dining plan. You can get filet mignon, and even a sauce with truffle flavor (truffle anything for 1 credit is a good deal). Combine that with the comforting yet slightly unique cheddar cheese soup and maple crème brûlée that have both established cult followings, as well as a fairly decent menu and the restaurant's small size, and that's exactly why Le Cellier has become so popular.

IMO, the food is very good for theme park standards. Most restaurants in Epcot don't come close (definitely not Coral Reef, and I'm a seafood person, definitely not Garden Grill, not Nine Dragons, Les Chefs, Marrakesh, etc). Bistro de Paris has the best food quality in Epcot, but it's a lengthy meal with upscale food that many people don't really want. Le Cellier definitely has broader appeal, but I still think its food quality is up there (the only theme park restaurant I like more is Brown Derby).

More info: I'm not a picky eater - there are a few things I just don't like, but I'll eat any type of food: South African, Moroccan, Ethiopian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Indian, Italian, French, Mexican, Spanish, Cuban, seafood, spicy, etc. So I definitely wouldn't put myself in the "meat and potatoes" box. That said, I still think Disney dining isn't exactly stellar, and Le Cellier is easily one of the better options available in the parks. Any comparison you make between a Disney restaurant and a similarly priced restaurant in the real world is likely to not end in Disney's favor.

Someone said that opinions will differ, which is important to note. Lots of people saying it is overrated, but for both DH and I, it is an absolute favorite and a must-do for dinner, even with it being 2 TS credits for dinner. I think it is the best dinner in EPCOT, and we have eaten just about everywhere. I haven't done some of the other steakhouses (e.g. at Yacht Club), but personally, I think Le Cellier is wonderful (and so does DH). It's actually our New Year's Eve dinner! :thumbsup2
