Hi!
I was wondering if you like Le Cellier or Yatchsman Steakhouse better? We are trying to book reservations and do not know which one to chose?!?!

p.s. we have the DDP so cost doesn't matter

Thank you!

*edit* we are going in April (so Le Cellier will be a signature and 2TS) and we will be going for dinner

When are you going and is it for lunch or for dinner? Beginning March 1st Le'Cellier is going to become a signature restaurant (2ts for dinner only) like Yachtsman Steakhouse is already. If you are going after this date (assuming you are since there is virtually no way you'd get in this late) and for dinner there is no way I could recommend Le'Cellier over Yachtsman since they have not released the menu yet.

In their current state, I don't think Le'Cellier is close to being as good as Yachtsman, but what makes Le'Cellier so nice (for a few more weeks) is it being a 1TS restaurant. As of today, Yachtsman very good, Le'Cellier good and along the lines of an Outback.

But until the menu is released and there are those who can experience it, we have no idea as to how it compares as a signature to a signature restaurant.

I believe Le Cellier's menu is going to change in March when it changes over to a 2 TS (for dinner, at least) restaurant. Hard to know what the reviews will be like until that happens.

I will say that my husband and I preferred Le Cellier to Yachtsman. The only category Yachtsman would win (for us) would be the spacious dining room. We strongly preferred the food at Le Cellier and the service, though. That's just our experience though. You'll find plenty who will have the exact opposite opinion!

yep, Le Cellier will be 2 TS in April and have you tried to get reservations at Le Cellier? Typically it has booked up 6 mos in advance. Maybe that's changing after 3/1 if people are not booking it as a signature restaurant...but my point is you may not have a choice at this "late" date.

That said, we vastly preferred Le Cellier to Yachtsmans. The steaks and the service were much, much better at Le Cellier. And though Yachtsman has a bigger dining room, they still over-cram the tables in there so even though you're paying a fortune for the meal (or 2 TS) you're still practically sitting with the people at the next table...our table for 2 was not even 18" apart from the next table. And the service dragged out so badly (I think they deliberately "pace" the meal. To the point of ridiculousness sometimes...if the waiter is paying attention, they might notice you finished your course 10 min. ago and need a refill on your water or tea. But it was like the guy was on a timer and was coming out every 15 min. no matter what.)

Hopefully when Le Cellier becomes signature they don't lose the good service.

I am not a fan of Le Cellier. Although Yachtsman doesn't bowl me over either, at least it's been a quiet calm dining experience everytime we've been there. Le Cellier is a zoo with over hyped food. I will try it again as a signature to see what changes they make.

I can not speak for the Yachtsman(have been meaning to try it). La cellar Is very good. Compareing it to Outback Is not that far off(but Outback has better apptizers),but I like Outback. I had the NY strip, very good lots of flavor. We are going to do it off the meal plan this year, but are still going.

+5!!!

We would do Yachtsman without hesitation over Le Cellier.

While we truly love both, Yachtsman's quality of food is so much better. On our last trip we did Yachtsman first which ended up being a big mistake as Le Cellier was not nearly as good afterwards!

Especially with them both being 2TS now, I would highly recommend YS; you will not be disappointed.

I had the worst steak of my whole entire life at Yatchsman! So we will never ever go back there. I think my kids can make a better steak then that place. Now, we just went to Le Cellier last year and I had a great steak. The steak was so tender and aged very well. I would pick Le Cellier if they have the steak still on the menu.

Le Cellier has good steak, but it is HIGHLY over rated. It wasn't even close to the best steak I have had and wasn't even the best steak on that trip (that goes to Brown Derby).

Yatchsman is on the "possible" list for our trip in October, but I have never been there. So, I can't say which is better. However, I don't think Le Cellier is a must do.

Yatchsman is amazing! My dh lets me plan all our trips and just does what he's told :cool1:... but it is his one request for a repeat this time.

For us, Yachtsmen wins hand down. LeCellier is good (plus I am not sure it deserves a signature staus). but Yachtsmen is way better.

Interesting and Disney loves to hear people losing accountability of their spending. The essence of dining plans converting your money to tickets is to get people in the mind set of not watching cost and their spending.

In our eyes Disney is leveraging the hype created by DDP diners by elevating LeCellier to a higher tier (Signature) based on ADR availablity rather than quality.

I read a similar thread before our last trip. When I told DH about a thread comparing steakhouses, he said that if people were arguing about which was better, he needed to try both. So, we did a "head to head" comparison - back to back dinners.

I will preface this by saying that I am a vegetarian, but DH is not and likes to try those high end restaurants in the DFW area (not usually worth the $ for a vegetarian!). He found the Le Cellier steak to be much better. And the service was better. Neither of us liked the service at Yachtsman - it was very rushed and we felt not very taken care of (not great service). And this was at an early dinner, so it wasn't busy yet.

Now, you do have to note that chefs do change. We found our first two visits to Le Cellier to be out of this world (not a steak, but the off-the-menu grilled cheese sandwich, which consisted of an inside out English muffin and Canadian white cheddar, that they made for DD on our first visit is still the best grilled cheese sandwich that I have ever tasted), but the chef changed in between our 2nd and 3rd visits. Le Cellier was still good and better than Yachtsman, but it went down a notch, in my opinion.

Try both and decide for yourself!

I am a fan of Le Cellier, and I completely agree with this statement.

We love Le Cellier -- but maybe that's because I also like that it's in Epcot and part of the whole experience....
