Trying to decide between Le Cellier or Yachtsman Steakhouse for our upcoming May vacation. Which one do you like better and why?

Well, it's kind of like comparing apples and oranges. I like them both. I like the food at Le Cellier, as well as the ambiance. But it has a much more casual feel to it. Going to Yachtsman feels more like a special occasion. I had the best steak I've ever had in my life at Yachtsman, and I feel the food there is definitely a cut above Le Cellier (which is reflected in the price).

If you want a more casual meal, then Le Cellier is a great choice. If you want something that feels a little more upscale and special, then definitely Yachtsman.

My family decided to settle this for ourselves one year. We ate at Yachtsman on a tuesday and Le Cellier on a thursday. Hands down, we would choose Le Cellier. We had poor service at Yachtsman and I was very disappointed that I had to send my steak back because it was under-cooked (I'm not usually terribly picky, but I refuse to eat meat that is cooked rare or medium rare-- especially when I ordered it medium well) given that I had heard such great things about the quality of the restaurant and that it wasn't busy at all (1/2 to 3/4 of the place was empty). We have never had service that was less than satisfactory at Le Cellier, we enjoy the food more (I consider their filet mignon the best I've ever had), the atmosphere is much nice, I thought, and It's a better value, too.

I liked Yachtsman WAY better than Le Cellier. While Le Cellier has some good food, it is much more casual. I thought the food at Yachtsman was much more flavorful and I really enjoyed the upscale atmosphere. The service was much more attentive (making sure everything was cooked to my liking, asking if I needed more of anything, bringing drink refills before empty, de-crumbing the table, etc etc). I liked having at least one fancy dinner while on vacation.

Yatschman is by far better. We do like both restaurants, as we can be big steak eaters. The quality at Yatschman is a completely different scale than Le Cellier. If we have the time, we will do both. But if there is only time for one of them? Yatschman all the way... The rare filet is making my mouth water right now... Can't wait to go back in February. :cloud9:

We also prefer Yachtsman for all of the reasons stated above. At Le Cellier it's crowded and has the atmosphere of a chain steak house (the food is good, but not great). Yachtsman's version of Steak au Poivre was really good.

Yachtsman is better than LeCellier in my opinion. If I wanted a steak I would go to the Yachtsman (or Shula's) and LeCellier would be my pick for a burger and their steak salad.

Yachtsman and Shula's also have a better atmosphere and LeCellier is more of a casual lunch place.

I totally agree that they are different. One, because LeCellier is in a park and Yachtsman is not and it is dressier.

We can never decide on one, so we always try and do both. LeCellier reminds me of going to a very nice hunting lodge. Yachtsman reminds me of an upscale restaurant with a dress code and they are more attentive.

If you are on the dining plan, LeCellier is one credit and Yachtsman is two.

Thanks - Diane

I prefer YS. I like the food and atmosphere better at YS. :earsboy:

We used to love the Yachtsman, but service issues abound culminating in one of the worst dinners we have ever had. Will not go back. Not to say you couldn't get lucky and have a great meal, but just an FYI.

Love Shula's. Best filet I've ever had and service couldn't be better.

Yachtsman Steakhouse is far superior in quality to Le Cellier IMO.
Le Cellier is similar to Bugaboo Creek IMO and the atmosphere is similar to Outback.
It's noisy and crowded.

I think Le Cellier is so popular because of the DDP and it very good for a 1TS location.

Yachtsman is trying to emulate Morton’s\Capitol Grill etcc.. and it is close.

If you are paying out of pocket you may want to consider Shula's over in the Dolphin. Prices are similar but the quality is higher.

If you are on the DDP then Yachtsman hands down. Nice quality aged stakes, not standard Disney steaks that are the same in every location.

YS. Definitely.

Perhaps I should share my Le Cellier experience from last month. We waited well over an hour and a half for our ADR. They told us it is a daily problem because they are always overbooked. The waiter was nice but clearly in a hurry to get us in and out as quickly as possible. The food was fine- nothing to write home about. My filet was definitely not the best I've ever had, and it was served over undercooked (literally crunchy) risotto. And it's in a basement (hence the name) and the tables are on top of each other- not to mention, the bathroom is clearly the oldest most disgusting bathroom in Epcot.

Sure it's a fine meal if you get it, but I wouldn't break my back trying to do so.

Yachtsman is better. Figure Yachtsman is comparable to Ruth Chris Steakhouse or Mortons, and Le Cellier is more of Outback quality

I can't speak for the Yachtsman,(as I have not been fortunate enough to eat there) but I thoroughly enjoyed Le Cellier. The filet was excellent. (almost as good as bread sticks:lmao:)
I thought the atmosphere was nice (although it is in a park and some patrons CAN be annoying if seated to closely)

For my $ though, you can't beat the filet @ JIKO @ AKL.:cloud9:
(and Calif Grill is not far behind)

Two thumbs way up!

Enjoy!

I think Yatchsman is better than Le Cellier but if I were eating on the dining plan, I would not spend 2TS credits at Yachtsman.

Did both last time we were in the World in September. Service has always been exceptional at Le Cellier (love the Canadians!), whereas the service at Yachtsman was very poor, slow, inattentive, and on top of it the server was pretty pretentious. Also I much preferred the Filet (w/ cream cheese mash potatoes, yummo!) at Le Cellier over the Peppercorn NY strip at Yachtsman.

Since many times service can make or break a meal, we'll be giving Yachtsman another shot next trip, but you can't go wrong at Le Cellier! :goodvibes

I wasn't impressed with LeCe. at all went there is Sept. Going to YC in Jan and hope it is better.

If you are staying at the beach club, you are there already!

Yachtsman, in my opinion, is the better Steakhouse by far. I would say they are on par with such great steakhouses as Smith & Wolenski, Morton's, Peter Luger's and DelFrisco's. The quality of La Cellier is equivalent to the now defunct "Steak & Ale" chains (run by the same company of Bennigan's fame).

While Yachtsman is well worth the 2 TS points on the dining plan, I can also see the value of La Cellier for those that don't have the points to spare or the OOP expenses. Since I upgraded to the Deluxe Plan when Free Dining offer came out on my dates, I am going to especially enjoy my trip to Yachstman on the final night of our stay to cap off a great vacation.

It used to be our favorite is Yachtsman, but after trying Shula's, that is by far the best steakhouse on Disney property.
