Le Cellier or Yachtsman Steakhouse

We had a fantastic meal at the Yachtsman as well as terrific service. So much so, that my DD(10) asked if we could go there on our holiday trip - absolutely booked it - didn't have to ask me twice!

We love Le Cellier. It has fantastic service and the food is excellent. The pretzel bread is a favorite of ours and when we went our steak was cooked perfectly. There are also some other delicious things on the menu such as a mushroom ravioli with cream sauce and the desserts are some of my favorite at WDW.

We have eaten at Le Cellier twice. The first time I thought it was really really good, but the last time we went I didn't much care for my steak at all. We are going to try the YSH in January and can't wait to give it a try. But like other people have suggested, if I were on the DDP we probably would not waste 2TS at YSH.

Can't speak to the Yachtsman, but we did dine at Le Cellier this past week. It was the meal we were most looking forward to, and the meal we found most disappointing during our week stay.

EVERYTHING WAS FAR TOO SALTY - had I known they were so heavy-handed with the salt, I would have said something to the server ahead of time. The pretzel bread was okay. The cheddar-cheese soup was good but salty. My DBF had a chicken polenta dish, which he couldn't finish due to the salt. We both order the mushroom filet - cooked perfectly and tender to eat, but salted WAY too much, as was the mushroom risotto it is served with. The smore's dessert was hard as a rock and almost impossible to eat with no flavor. I didn't try it, but he was not happy with the creme brulee either.

We left VERY disappointed and will not go there again. We have had much better steaks at a much lower price here at home - we'll stick with those, thank you.

Didn't like the food, service was slow, and waited about 20 minutes after we ate before someone came to see if we wanted desert, then waited about 20 minutes after that just to get our check. The steak was tough, and the mashed potatoes were sweet (these weren't sweet masted potatoes either). All I could taste in my desert was liqour, it was some strawberry stuff on cornbread, really yucky. Don't remember exactly what DH had but I do rememeber it was chewy, not in a good way but tough chewy, and just tasted bad. We haven't do Le cellier but hopefully it will be better than YS on our next trip.

Well, it's kind of like comparing apples and oranges. I like them both. I like the food at Le Cellier, as well as the ambiance. But it has a much more casual feel to it. Going to Yachtsman feels more like a special occasion. I had the best steak I've ever had in my life at Yachtsman, and I feel the food there is definitely a cut above Le Cellier (which is reflected in the price).

If you want a more casual meal, then Le Cellier is a great choice. If you want something that feels a little more upscale and special, then definitely Yachtsman.

Could not have said it better. Both were great, but they were just as you described.. Casual vs upscale..

If on the dining plan I would do LC for 1 TS rather than YS for 2 credits!

That is why we do the DxDDP- so that we have plenty of credits to eat where we want. I have no problem spending 2 credits for Yachtsman. The Place is great. We like Le Cellier, too. It's just more like a chain steakhouse.

It used to be our favorite is Yachtsman, but after trying Shula's, that is by far the best steakhouse on Disney property.

You took the words right out of my mouth. YS is really good but Shula's blows it out of the water. I didn't experience anything at Le Cellier that made me want to bother going back.

This is exactly how I feel. We are big fans of LeCellier, but Yatchsmen definitely has the best steak.

Go with Yachtmans. I feel Le Cellier while good is overrated

It looks like a difference is the service. Is there a better time to go the YS, say late evening? So if I wanted to eat at 5pm, maybe I should go to Le Cellier?

My wife and I was on the DDX plan in May and ate at Le Cellier twice (lunch/dinner), Yachtsman, Citricos, Flying Fish, and Narcoosses. Le Cellier had the best steak period and the price is a bit lower as well.

We choose Le Cellier. Reason being we will have DD2 (almsot 3) with us, and Le Cellier is only 1 TS credit compared to 2 TS credits. I am not a big steak person, so it doesn't matter to me. We had ADRs last year at Le Cellier for 7:30. When we checked in, the host said they were having delays, and couldn't quote us a wait time, or even check us in until 8. There were people screaming at the host that they were supposed to eat at 6, and it was now 7:30. Considering we had a hungy toddler in tow, and it started to pour down rain, we told the host we were leaving, and went off property to eat. The only ADR DH cared about this year was Le Cellier, so I made an early dinner ADR. I hope we like it.

Trying to decide between Le Cellier or Yachtsman Steakhouse for our upcoming May vacation. Which one do you like better and why?

Are you looking for a steakhouse experiance or just a good piece of steak that is covered by the DDP?

If you are looking for a steakhouse experiance that is covered by the DDP then the Yachtsman is the closest you will get. If you are looking for a nice atmosphare that serves good steak and is covered by the DDP then go with LeCellier.

Now for a true high end steakhouse experiance regardless of price then Shula's Steakhouse at the WDW Dolphin is the way to go.

We've done both and YSH is our preference by far.

Not that LeCellier isn't good - it is - but Yachtsman is just better all around.

Haven't done Le Ceiler BUT!!!! Did do Yatchsman and HATED it!!! :sad2: Service was WAY below par (to the point that I called and complained when we were back home.) The Tomato salad was quite tasty, but for over $150 (out of POCKET!) ON the DDP with NO alcohol, totally NOT worth it! MUCH better steak at Olivia's and the service was out of this world . Planning on going to check out Le Ceiller in 2011. (Can't go back til then... :sad1:)

We loved Yachtsman! Best steaks I have ever had, and I don't even really like mashed potatoes and finished every bite!!! MMMMM The desserts were also amazing...but can I tell you again how good the steaks were?? I had the filet (delicious) and by friend and fiance had the porterhouse...they were all perfect!

I have always loved Le Cellier but IMHO it doesn't compare to Yachtsman!

Had the best meal of our trip this time at Le Cellier last week. We have visited Le Cellier in the past but this time was exceptional. The coffee rubbed KC Strip was unbelievable and DW enjoyed the filet. The service was prompt and gracious (Thanks Jennifer!) contrary to what we have heard on hear lately about the place. Great dessert....Can't recall the exact name of it (mixed berry soup?) but it is fresh berries over some kind of cream pudding in a rasberry sauce.......best dessert I had all week. Actually felt healthy LOL.
