Le Cellier... NOt that great!

I'm sorry some of you have not had good meals/experiences there. We go every trip and have always had amazing food (nothing like Outback, which we really don't care for) and service. The mushroom filet just melts in our mouths and my H said it was his favorite restaurant of our entire DM, including several signature restaurants.

Restaurant reviews are subjective and can change daily, depending on food and service. We personally will never step foot in Le Chefs de France again, but many people love it.

We also loved our filet there and my son loved the bread sticks. :) I would not do 2 TS for it, just because there are other things that I like to eat too, but we will still go for lunch every time we go to Disney.

Oh Well......We love Le Cellier.....we always go when we are there and we get the prime rib with cheddar cheese soup and of course the bread is a given...I also love any of their meats...Our granddaughter and our neighbors that went at the same time thought that the chicken was delicious......as was the kids meal with the added steak on.....the 8 year old said he could cut his steak with a fork......so the more that dislike it the easier it will be to get our reservations:rotfl:

I'll guess: V&A, Le Bistro, Shula's. Il Mulino, & Bluezoo

My other guess would have been Citrico's, but I'm staying with the list above. I wonder how close I am. :scratchin
I'd bet at least 3 wrong. Shula's. Il Mulino, & Bluezoo are likely not included in cm discounts.

I enjoy Le Cellier, also enjoy the Moosehead light in the souvenier glass outside of the restaraunt. Having said that I have tried to make some ADRs for my last 3 trips and have been shutout each time,I think The Palm or Shulas offers a much better grade of beef (although I do miss the the cheddar cheese soup)...I think the decor of the whole Canadian pavilion is fantastic though, and miss not being able to ADR to Le Cellier a month in advance

LC is on par with an Outback Steakhouse with Ruth's Chris prices if paying OOP. It got so much hype because all the meat and potatoes people who won't try anything adventurous could get a steak for 1TS on the dining plan, hence it's popularity. WDW caters to the nonadventurous boring suburban palate, hence the rave reviews. LC would be universally panned by any serious foodie.

I agree. When I go out for dinner, I want to eat foods that I can't make at home (Sushi, exotic sauces, exquisite desserts, etc.). At home I can very easily throw a filet on the grill and put some risotto in a pot, so I really don't see the purpose of running around trying to get a reservation. BTW - I have ate at many disney restaurants including all of the signatures and the only two that I really enjoyed were Jiko and Cali grill (Sushi Only).

Yeah, we don't get it either. It only got so popular because of the 1 TS credit on the dining plan. Unless they do a major overall, I have a feeling it's going to be really easy to get a reservation once it's upgraded to 2 credits.

You would think so but that doesn't appear to be the case. I tried booking reservations 180 days out online yesterday and Le Cellier was one of the few I couldn't get for dinner.

My family loves Le Cellier and IMHO many others do as well. Hype can only take you so far. This restaurant has been the toughest to book for at least the last 5 or 6 years so someone must like it. Remember, you can only get Lemmings to jump off the cliff once.

It seems a lot of folks that don't like Le Cel want to talk others into not going. Many love Le Cel, don't want to cook their own steaks and wouldn't touch Risotto. I am a cook and can fix almost anything, but I love to eat favorite foods on vacation, not stuff I don't eat at home. I've eaten at Le Cel 5 times and it gets better each time. It's not a must do, but I've never had problems booking it, and it's usually during free dining.

Well, I have to ask- maybe I just had 2 bad experiences.. Although they were months apart, both times my food was inedible because they were so salty.. Anyone else have salt problems here? I ate the soup, the mushroom filet and then had the smores for dessert ( that wasnt salty..LOL ) but was hard and tasteless.

I just love these threads. Please, please, please everyone do not book Le Cellier. It is terrible. That saves room for me to get in. :rotfl:

Since he said he only eats at 2 Disney owned restaurants, I'm guessing the discount isn't the deciding factor. The 3 above are definitely 3 of the best restaurants on WDW property. Naturally, I'm just guessing. If choosing only 5, the restaurants I listed would be my choices, so I went with that. ;)

OP. I hope you don't mind us creating this thread within a thread.

We have eaten at Le Cellier 3 times and have loved it each time. I have made the ADRs at the 180 day mark each time and had no problem getting them. After that, they are booked. My DF loved it too. I often booked it for him and my step mother for their anniversary dinner.

We have an ADR there in April for my whole family since one of my DS and my DD have not gotten to eat there yet. They can't wait. Neither can my other DS (who has eaten there), my DH and I.

Every restaurant doesn't have to appeal to everyone. Just eat where you like!

Yep. I tried it 3 times. My standard answer: any time you have a steak house and the two things the people rave about are the soup and the bread sticks, Houston you have a problem.

I laugh people pay 50 bucks a person (on average) to get a bowl of soup. :lmao:

I'm spoiled though, I live in a big city NYC, so I regularly have access to great steakhouses.

I happily give up my seat.

I've had the mushroom filet on every trip and, luckily, have not found it to be salty. For me, a little salt goes a long way. I will not eat a meal with too much salt (my family doesn't taste the salt like I do) and I usually send it back. I'm sorry you didn't have a good meal. I've never had the smores, but the moose is delish!

Actually, I believe a read somewhere else that the Mushroom filet was one of the top rated steaks by WDW visitors not too long ago. I think that the soup and breadsticks are unique and is why they are often commented on as being a fav.

And growing up on a cattle ranch in my younger years alloweded me with access to some of the best beef around. Regardless of all of that, Le Cellier is not the "best" steak I've had, but it certainly is a "very good" steak and I have dined at some of the "best" steakhouses in the country. In fact one of those places was Houston! :lmao:

I will gladly take your seat any time I visit. Thank you! ;)

We were disappointed the last 2-3 times we ate there and will no longer go - especially for 2 TS credits. I do enjoy the soup and may go for lunch just for the soup and maybe another appetizer. But the steaks should be great and ours just weren't :sad2:.

I was not impressed with Le Cellier -- the steak was good, service was great but nothing was spectacular. If I had to pay cash for the meal, I would have fainted at the price. And the cheese soup? Yuk. Pretzel bread? Germany has great soft pretzels (snack credit).

But, I personally think steak is boring to order in a restaurant. I've cooked better myself on the grill. I mean... it's just steak. Get a good cut and all set.

I would much rather dine at Restaurant Marrakesh which in contrast is very easy to get an ADR. Loved the food there, service was great, and the music and belly dancing very entertaining.

I agree, I loved Le Cel years ago but on our most recent trip we were SO disappointed. I'm happy a lot of you enjoy the place, but our steaks were extremely "blah" and the pretzel bread was... well... a soft pretzel. I was sorry we wasted credits there - I didn't even like my mixed drink!

However, we will try again when it goes Signature. :)

We have eaten there several times and always one of the highlights of our trips. One of the reasons it is hard to get a reservation is that the place is very small.

Let me apologize if I gave that impression. I actually like when people say they enjoy their food. that's one of the problems I've been having with the world over the course of the last 3 years. I hate leaving a restaurant feeling like my meal was just "ok". I too like eating my favorites but I do not like eating a $40 steak that I feel I could make better at home. I totally admit that after all the hype from the dis, I was expecting a great steak and sorry it simply was not that. Mediocre at best. The reason why I tried it 3X's was because I kept saying "it gets such fabulous reviews on the dis, it must have been an off night"

But I do have to ask a question, I find it interesting that it's acceptable to you because it's when you have free dining? So would you pay oop for it?

So no, I'm not trying to convince you not to go to Le Cellier, I'm trying to convince Disney to make the food quality worth the money they charge. I'd love to become one of the people who say "That's was an awesome steak"!!!
