Le Cellier...is it worth it?

DH and I will be visiting the first two weeks of August. We are big meat eaters and love a good steak. It's been more than 5 years since I have been to Le Cellier and I have read a lot of reviews about the quality going down hill. Is it still a good dinner or is there someplace better? I don't want to waste our time and money if there is a better place to grab a steak on site.

Bison at Artist Point is pretty good too. But I'm looking the Yachtsman for my next steak experience at WDW.

For us, the atmosphere and quality of ale Cellier was like the chain Ponderosa....tables too close and noisy....

We prefer the quality and atmosphere of Yachtsmans Steakhouse....meat is perfectly done, quality but as with all on property...pricey...

It was delicious when I went back in 2011, I haven't been back since due to it's upgrading to signature, as it would be too expensive :(

Not worth the prices they charge. Steak is nothing special. Ditto for the famous cheese soup. Tables are way too close together. You could easily reach out and put your arm around your neighbors shoulder.

Steak Offerings in order:

1.) Shula's
2.) Yachtsman
3.) Le Cellier
4.) Boathouse

Shula's is hands down the winner, but it's also the most expensive of the four and the most adult atmosphere. Nice for an upscale, romantic night.
Yachtsman is the best steak option for families in Disney while still being upscale and a romantic option for couples.
Le Cellier has always served us perfect steaks, but the seating is always 20-30mins behind the ADR time and the layout is close seating and VERY loud. The food has always been very good, but everything else is completely 'park' level.

I will share the same sentiment that the seating is too close and the restaurant is just too small for what they try to fit in there. I would prefer to eat at the yachtman's over le cellier. My family has not been impressed with the restaurant on our past experiences, but that was before signature.

We ate there last May and were completely underwhelmed with the whole experience. The steak was just ok and for the price paid, it should be better than ok. It's a theme park restaurant and it shows. I would spend the extra money at Yachtsman's or Shulas.

I used to be on the side of still considering Le Cellier worth it. The low lighting, great wine list, and all around atmosphere was wonderful in addition to their great steaks. On our last trip we did both Le Cellier in addition to the Yachtsman and while the atmosphere of Le Cellier is good, the promptness of service, quality, and about everything else from Yachtsman easily beat out Le Cellier. We may give it a second chance on a future trip, but we'd definitely pick Yachtsman over it.

We went in March and thought it was good, not great. DH and DS had good steaks that were cooked properly. The cheese soup and poutine are good, but they are salty. Hello, they are full of cheese, so of course they are going to be salty. I was still full from V&A the night before, so I had the scallop appetizer as my main. The scallops were cooked perfectly; however, the sauce was a little too salty. So, I am thinking they could cut back on the salt a little. I don't think we will be back soon, but that's only because there are so many places to try in Epcot that we haven't been to yet. If there's something else that you really want to try, I would do it instead.

Thank you for all the quick responses! Looks like I should start looking into Shula's or Yachtsman.

Shula's is the best.
Yachtsman has been lackluster in service on some visits and is the only location I've had to send back a steak that was supposed to be medium rare and came out well+. When everything clicks at Yachtsman, it's an excellent place. Shula's has been flawless, Yachtsman has been inconsistent for us, Le Cellier's steak has been excellent every time we've gone. The draw back is, 98% park clothes, a lot of kids, a lot of noise, close table layout.

The poutine at Le C is not even close to what Canadians eat. The fact that you can so easily get a res for Le C now shows people are going elsewhere. Its not worth the money.

Le cellier used to be our hands-down favorite place to eat and also a great value. We went a couple of years ago and we all ordered steak, which were charred on the outside to the point of ruin. Decided to try it again in May. It was awful. Nothing like it used to be and way overpriced. We won't be going back.

Shula's or Yachtsman. We love Le Cellier too.

ABSOLUTELY THIS!!! LC is VERY close to the boat at the International Gateway. While I lean toward Shula's at the Dolphin? EITHER Signature Restaurant will be a far better choice for those that love a good steak :).

(Edit) - please pay attention to any advice from TheRustyScupper - he gets all this :).

Le Cellier has been a favorite whipping boy on DIS since it went to 2 TS credits on the DDP. Everytime someone makes one of these threads it gets bashed.

For our family Le Cellier is the biggest must do dining experience of every trip. Everyone wants to know when our LC ADR is. It's the one meal everyone looks forward to and enjoy's the most every trip.

This past December we were at WDW for 16 nights, so we had a chance to eat at alot of different places. I intentionaly order similar meals at LC, Yachtsman, and Artist Point for the purpose of comparing the meals. This was brought about because of you fine DISers. :)

The end result was that LC was still my favorite and my DS and DW felt the same way.

I had a great steak at LC. Our server was outstanding, one of the best we've had at WDW. Overall fantastic experience.

The Yachtsman steak was good, but not great. I honestly had no problem deciding that the LC meal was better. The server was good, but I felt he was a little "fake". It was like everything he was doing was to directly influence a higher tip. That's fine I guess, it just felt like he had to "try" to give good service where the server at LC seemed to genuinely enjoy serving us.

Artist Point was our Christmas dinner. We had never eaten there before and were really looking forward to it. I had the Bison. It was very good. I still prefered the steak I had at LC, but it was very good. Nothing bad to say about the service. It wasn't as personable as the server at LC, but it was good.

Atmosphere is different at all 3 places. As some said, it is louder at LC. There are alot of family's with young kids dressed in theme park attire there. We've always been fortunate enough to be seated in a quieter corner, but I wouldn't dispute the fact that it's loud.

Atrtist Point was very dark and very quiet. Definatley a good spot for a more romantic meal. Not everyone was wearing ties and sport jackets, but there was definatley no shorts and flip flops there. Not for Christmas Dinner anyway.

Yachtsman felt like the were trying very hard to give an upscale feel to the place, but couldn't quite pull it off. You'd have a suit and tie at one table with shorts and flip flops at the next. We were dressed in between park clothes and formal. Meaning we did have a chance to change before heading to dinner and put on clothes that were an upgrade from park attire, but I refuse to wear formal wear on vacation.

To summarise Le Cellier is still our must do, I highly recommend Artist Point for something a little more adult in nature, and I was undewhelmed by Yachtsman. Nothing was bad or put it on the never again list, but it won't be a priority to eat there again.

We didn't try Shula's, we were on the DDP. I'm sure Shula's is great, but you are looking at $100 a plate there I think.

Agree with this. We've never had a bad experience or meal at LC. Also agree that it seems that more people are bowed up about it going to 2 credits rather than the quality of the food. I never ate there before the change, so I don't have that particular bias working against LC for me. Is it the greatest meal I've ever eaten? Nope, but it's a high quality meal without having to leave the park.
