Ok- I'm trying to make ADRs for our family trip in February- 7 of us- me, dh, ds16, ds5, ds3, dd18mths, and dMom. I was about to call to try to get Le Cellier for a late lunch when I suddenly realized that the ONLY reason I want to go there is for the cheese soup which I tried at F&W . We will not be making many ADRs for the week we'll be there as we're staying offsite and will probably cook some and bring lunch sometimes. I want the dining experiences we have (maybe 3 for the whole trip) to be enjoyable for ALL of us. Food choices aren't a problem because my boys can almost always find something they like (as well as the rest of us) but will Le Cellier be an enjoyable atmosphere for the little ones? I'm worried about it being cramped- for some reason I thought I remembered hearing that. Also, my mom is a little on the "Pooh sized" side and I want her to be comfy. This is kinda what I'm picturing...:crowded: Also, can you get cheese soup at a CS place like you can in some of the countries??

Also, I'm thinking of trying Ohana for dinner and maybe Chef Mickeys for breakfast. Are these good choices or do you have other suggestions for dinner and breakfast? We've already tried Crystal Palace and love it but want something different. We'll be visiting every park. Thanks!!

The interior of Le Cellier has a stone castle look to it and the tables are a little close, 'cramped' is too strong a word. We've often dined there and had only appetizers, salads and desserts, so going there for the soup alone is not a crazy idea. I'm not aware of any counter service cheddar soup. As for your little ones, our 5 and 3 yr old grand kids enjoyed themselves twice at Le Cellier this March. If you're a beer drinker, try the La Fin Dumonde, but limit yourself to one.

I don't know, I personally have never felt cramped inside Le Cellier. For us it's always a MUST DO on every trip. I like the atmosphere inside - kind of lodge-like I guess and a little on the dark side (it IS called Le Cellier after all;) )

We're big fans of Ohana as well. Great choice. :thumbsup2 Haven't been to Chef Mickey's so i can't speak to that.

I am a big guy (6'2" 285lbs) and I did not feel cramped in Le Cellier. I was with 4 other people as well. I am not aware of any place to get the cheese soup other than Le Cellier.

I would recommend the Wild Mushroom filet w/ wild mushroom risotto (if you like mushrooms). My mom ordered that last year and I didn't and boy do I waish I had!

As for the little ones I could not say as I don't have any yet.

I personally don't think your mom would have any trouble. We have eaten there twice and the tables/chairs will easily accomodate. The food and service make this a MUST DO for each trip....sometimes twice in one trip!:thumbsup2

Ok- it's back on my list then. I love the sound of the theming- don't mind dark at all- I think it sounds quite cozy for a chilly february afternoon.

I'd love to try that mushroom filet dbk1029 but I didn't see it on the lunch menu on allearsnet. I specifically looked for that steak because it sounded so good!! Hopefully it will be available for lunch in February. I think ds5 would love it too- he loves steak and mushrooms.

We do enjoy a beer Bill- dh and I- and I love to try new ones. Never had La Fin Dumonde- why do you say just one? Not that I'd need more but is it a high alcohol percentage? Two beers is usually my limit when I'm out at dinner. I just wanna make sure I don't have to be carried out of Le Cellier

Thanks!

If you want to go to Le Cellier, you may already be closed out depending on when you want to go. They were booked solid for December over 2 months ago and I can't get ADRs for or trip over marathon week end in January. You can get take out cheese soup, though. just go to the check in counter at the front and ask. They give you pretzel bread with it. Good luck

Oops- I re-read my post and saw that I said January. That was our original plan but we're going in early February now. Still pretty close though. I'm hoping it won't be full since we're looking for a lunch ADR. Thanks!

Nine percent alcohol by volume, and it's such a fine beer that the content isn't obvious as you drink it. If I didn't have any spiritus fermenti prior to our reservation I'd go with two, possibly three with a steak entree', but we usually hit the Rose & Crown in the late afternoon so I have some corn juice on board already, so one La Fin is the limit.

Oh my. I checked and my usual- Newcastle- has 4.5%. Two of those with dinner and I'm fine. More than that...not so much. Thanks for the warning.

We were there with our 3 kids this past June (ages almost 3, 6 & 7). They liked it just fine and my DH and I LOVED it. We did not feel cramped at all!

I would suggest maybe the Garden Grill in Epcot if you want a good character dinner.

Hey Bill. Do they sell La Fin at Le Cellier? I never noticed before because I'm a big Moosehead fan. Do they sell it at the kiosk outside? I want to get some next trip. Thanks. :drinking1

I've only had it by the bottle in Le Cellier, I've never thought to ask for it outside. I guess I assume that if an item is not prominently listed at a kiosk, it's not there. We were just there three weeks ago for Food&Wine and there was a 'Great Beers of the World' stand between Canada and Great Britian and that would have been an ideal venue for Le Fin, but no such luck. I will ask about alternative sources of Le Fin in WDW on our next trip and suggest that there's money to be made by selling it. Ya think Disney might respond to the old Profit Motive?

ps. I see that you'll be there before us. How 'bout a report on this question?

I will do that. Thanks for the info!

BTW I have a picture of the Great Beers of the World kiosk as the wallpaper on my phone. I love that place. Too bad they don't leave it up all year!

I was there a couple weeks back and the one waiter is a real winner did not see his name but he was a strange dude looks indian so thats the clue anyways i had the cream cheese mashed with my 7oz filet no bbq sauce for me and pretzel bread to die for .

The Mussels Apt is OUTSTANDING!!!

Answering questions / concerns in the OP....

In regard to Le Cellier being cramped... I am 6'4", 320 and did not feel cramped. I've only been in the place once and maybe the tables are a bit close???? But I seem to recall this in several other places as well, Mexican rest in EPCOT. Anyway, I would not hesitate to go back and Le Cellier is at the top of our list.

I think Chef Mickey's is a great choice for breakfast, especially if you have never been. O'hanas is another good choice too. We have eaten there on each of our last 6 trips, sometimes twice a trip. We liked the previous menu a bit better, but maybe that's just natural.... you cling to your first favorable experience and resist change to it. The first few trips we were in love with the place, now we go partly just to be at the Poly. Not sure we love it as much as we used to and not sure if that is us or them.

Do consider the sirloin burger to split between either you and your spouse, or between your kids. It is outstanding and huge. My DH and I do this every trip, and with the cheese soup and breadsticks, we are more than filled up. LOVE this place and can't wait for April!!

Thank you. True San Angel tables were close together. I think we shall be fine at Le Cellier. I am looking forward to trying it and dh said he is too.
I'm really looking forward to 'Ohana and CM too. I think my kids will love these. Ds5 has been asking about CM for a long time. Ds 3 isn't crazy about characters right now (hid under the table at Crystal Palace) but once the characters realize this they usually back off a bit. Who knows, maybe this time he'll come out of his shell a bit.

Thanks. Dh likes mussels. I'll let him know.

I might try this with ds16 or ds5 but last time I tried to split a meal with dh he ate his half of our meal and then ordered another one for himself. :lmao: He's pretty fit because he's good with portion control at home but he sort of goes all out on vacation. No matter the size, I've never seen him leave a meal unfinished unless he really didn't like it. Gosh- with all these recommendations I may have to make two ADRs for the place. They do sound yummy.
