Hurricane Gabrielle threat ??

You will LOVE it!! We were on her in January and loved it so much we are going again next week!
We have been on the Wish and thought it was just ok. Layout of course is exactly the same but the theming of the Treasure looks so much better. Apologies for getting off topic

It’s 1000% better…. It doesn’t make logical sense but the Treasure “feels” completely different. We are Pearl and the Wish is our least favorite ship by far but the Treasure is way up on the list. It’s just something you have to see to believe. I am so exited for you to experience it!

I’m on this cruise as well and I have been watching this wave for the last few days too. I am more concerned about it coming up the East Coast while we’re on the cruise and what will happen on land while we’re gone. I’m trying to plan for that aspect. I trust the cruise line 100%. We have cats that people will be watching, but unfortunately they can’t take the cats with them if something comes ashore. Looking at an alternate plan to get my cats to a friend before we leave … she lives six hours south inland from me.
We're also on the Sept. 13-20 Treasure cruise, and my main concern is what happens at home. We live on the coast of South Carolina, and my 70-something parents are driving down from Tennessee to stay with our dogs while we're on the cruise. As long as the storm stays far, far away from the East Coast, I can live with whatever itinerary changes DCL may make. We're cruising for the ship anyway!

What happens if Disney cancels the cruise due to a Hurricane?

Do they refund you for the cruise fare? Provide credit for a future cruise?

If DCL cancels (has happened twice to the Wish in the last few years). They refund you the cruise and give a discount off a future sailing which does stack with a placeholder discount.

@Matrix21 & @Disnsyncey - I am also on the Magic Sept 19- 24th (and the Wish prior). Im keeping an eye on it but not worried yet. We have sailed during a hurricane with DCL and felt very safe (we were rerouted). Its a 5 night so technically it could go to Cozumel but would depend on port space

Floridian here, we don't worry until Jim Cantore shows up ;) hahahahaha

The unknown is a concern when you are away from the house.....but there's nothing we can do about that!

I'll let my mind wander starting on the 15th, but I get worked up about things in general, so not even letting myself start....

but I have consistently planned September WDW trips for a long time, so it's always me and the National Hurricane Center :)

see you on board!

It's not our first time planning a trip to WDW during hurricane season, but it's our first time planning a cruise :)
we sailed on the Treasure in May (I prefer the Wish and Fantasy, but that's another topic lol).

I just don't want to face a cruise cancellation because we are not scheduled to go back home until Sept26th and our OKL reservation is on the 24th. There would be a 5 night gap between the pre-cruise and post-cruise. But we're not there yet, i believe, by their prediction (saw that on FB), "Gabrielle" (if she hits the US) would be around SC/NC by Sept 17th, so on the 19th we should be able to cruise from PC.

If DCL cancels then yes they will refund and most likely offer a future cruise credit or % off.

However I wouldn't anticipate that happening, typically only because the home port was closed for an extended time. It's much more likely the cruise will be modified (different ports or sea days).

I'll stand outside and blow eastward.....if we all join together, it will go out to sea :)

I was just poking around the NOAA and MAN they have a lot of different maps and radars!
Or we can dump ice cubes into the ocean so the hurricane can go north faster :rotfl2:

We've sailed twice on cruises that had itineraries modified from Eastern to Western or vice versa due to hurricanes. In addition to what everyone else is saying about travel insurance etc, my advice is to research excursions on alternate ports before you board, and plan on patience with waiting to rebook. The app gets overwhelmed by everyone trying to book at once and doesn't typically work for hours, so if you have your heart set on certain excursions you may end up standing in line at guest services. It helped a lot to have an idea of what we wanted beforehand.

What ports are the alternative to Nassau and Castaway Cay?

It could get extended if the path of the hurricane is such that warrants really away from a broader area. Or more likely a port day becomes a sea day while the ship goes out to sea away from the stormy area.

Could a Bahamian cruise transform into a cruise to "nowhere", meaning it just circle around and comes back to PC ?
