From the many TRs I've read, the Filet Mignon seems like a *very* popular dish at Le Cellier

I also notice that a lot of people substitute the mashed potatoes instead of the wild mushroom risotto. So I'm wondering...is it that people don't like the risotto or are the mashed potatoes just that much better that it's worth substituting from the original recipe?

Has anyone tried both? :goodvibes

(Now I'm hungry after writing this)

I like both, but I prefer the mushroom risotto. The mashed potatoes are very creamy, but the risotto is also creamy and tastes great with the truffle and mushroom flavor.

Filet with risotto (the steak is butterflied in this pic, so it looks bigger)

I just dont like risotto but the mashed potatoes were really good...

I think it's just a matter of people not liking mushroom risotto, or not knowing what it is. I love risotto, and it's always been perfectly prepared when I've had it there.

I think some are afraid of risotto but I think many simply don't like mushrooms, I happen to love the combination. I can get mashed potatoes anywhere, risotto is another matter!

Hey don't count me in that catagory of "probably just don't like the risotto".

NO WAY is it better than the mashed potatoes. Period.

Yes the risotto is good, but when you taste those mashed....mmmm mmmm.

If you are a mashed potato lover, do NOT miss them!

The first time I got it with the risotto. I loved the steak but wasn't nuts about the risotto. The next time I tried it with the mashed taters. The mashed taters was a winner for me.

I beg to differ. I thought the mashed potatoes were quite ordinary (although creamy, which was nice), and if you're a mashed potato lover, of course you'd like the potatoes. But the risotto is also quite creamy, it has more of a textural component to it (which I like), and I personally think the risotto absorbs the truffle and mushroom flavor better. Plus, risotto is pretty uncommon in comparison to mashed potatoes.

I LOVE both!! I actually get the Risotto with the steak and a side of the Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes!!!

When we went in April it was then a signature rest. and for dinner they no longer had the cream cheese mashed potatoes and wouldn't let us sub anything for the risotto. I think for lunch they still have the cream cheese mashed potatoes tho. can anyone confirm this is still how it is??

I hope so because I'm going for lunch and I'd really like to try both but it looks like it may be the other way around:

I think the mashed potatoes and the risotto are both good, but the best dish at Le Cellier is the cheese soup.

There is a reason this is such a popular restaurant. Everything is phenomenal!

Last Sept (before going Signature) we enjoyed a really good meal there--except for my risotto. It was crunchy! Not properly cooked. The rest of the meal was really good though.

That menu is wrong, and the menu on the official Disney World website is right. Dinner doesn't have the cream cheese mashed potatoes, while lunch offers the cream cheese mashed potatoes as a side dish. So for lunch, you can definitely try both if you want. :goodvibes

I'm so happy to be wrong! ;) Thanks!
