Le Cellier.......Don't believe the hype

The fries were VERY salty.......too salty to eat. When I told our server said:
It is not supposed to be a salty dish. It is fries, with cheddar cheese and gravy. Very simple. If it is done right it is great. Not supposed to be a fancy thing. Forget truffle salt or anything like that. It is what you might get at the local greasy hamburger joint around the corner. This should be a simple counter service food not something to be ordered at a fancy steakhouse.

While I think it is important to note if you like/dislike a restaurant, for those who may not have experienced it before, the best advice is still - Try it yourself.

So true. Everyone's tastes are different. Perfect examples are Le Cellier and Coral Reef. Over the years, I've seen a lot of hit or miss reviews for both places. We tried Coral Reef for the first time about 4 years ago, despite a plethora of bad reviews, and loved it. We've been back about 5 or 6 times since. In fact, it's a must do for us, and has been perhaps one of the most consistently good TS restaurants we frequent.

Le Cellier is a different story. After a couple years of never being able to book it, we finally got an ADR. Read so many good reviews and even a friend of mine raved about how great it was when he was there. I had the filet that everyone said was the best ever. I just wasn't impressed. It was served with the same wild mushroom risotto I've had at at least 2 other Disney TS restaurants, except this one was ridiculously salty, yet bland at the same time.

So my point is, if you want to try something, try it. We found a place that we really love that we probably wouldn't have tried had we listened to all the negative reviews. You never know. You might end up loving Le Cellier like we did Coral Reef.

Upscale poutine isn't unique to LC. I really liked LC's version.

We used to love LeCellier and it was on our "must-do" list for every visit (which was 2-3 times per year). The last 3-4 visits I've noticed the quality has gone done and it has definitely become a "hype" restaurant for us. When we go back in August, we're skipping LeCellier for the 1st time in ages. We'll give Yachtsman's Steakhouse a chance this time and not even miss LeCellier.

We ate dinner there last summer before it became a "signature" meal. It was decent as a 1 credit meal, but no way is it worth 2. I haven't read anything on here that indicates it's improved enough to be worth double the price.

The meat isn't prime, and while the atmosphere is dark and soothing, it's not spectacular in any way. There are no great views of anything.

To Le'Celliers defense they do offer a Canadian Prime N.Y. Strip on the menu, but the rest is Canadian AAA which is the equivelent of USDA Choice. But then again, Yachtsman, and other signatures also offer choice as well.

Now to address some saying there are bad days and good days at a restaurant. This may be true, but when one of those bad days is so atrocious I don't need a second try; you lost me from goodbye. If the food was bad, fine I'll try it again and chalk it up to a bad day. But when seated next to the restroom entrance and next to a busy server station and upon asking a manager politely if we could move and being told rudely that is the only seat available take it or eat somewhere else, sorry you are done in my book. If I was not for the fact I was on the DDP and also finding a table as a walk up somewhere else near impossible, I would have done just as the manager suggested.
