Le Cellier Coffee-rubbed Kansas City Strip Steak

I've not had the strip, but the filet was top notch.
(in the Bern's , Del Frisco league):thumbsup2

It was ALMOST as good as the bread sticks!

Wow. That's high praise. How do you compare Yachtsman to Bern's?

How is the Coffee-rubbed Kansas City Strip Steak at Le Cellier?

I had it in Sept and it was delicious, one of the best steaks I have ever had! We are going back to Le Cellier in Dec and I will definitely order it again....my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

that is what I got last year and it was very good...we are going back next week and that is what I am getting again...i thought it was much better then my dh filet!

I got it when I was there in January and it was fantastic. I plan on ordering it when I go in February. Can't wait.

DH and I both got it in Sept because our waiter recommended it. It was amazing! :thumbsup2

I just asked my son what his opinion of the Kansas city steak was and he said it was really yummy and melted in his mouth!

Okay, what is the coffee rub all about. I'm not a big steak eater, but thought I'd try one at Le Cellier. Does it have a coffee flavor to the steak? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

I don't think it is a dumb question. I was wondering the same thing. I subscribed to this thread hoping someone would answer that.

I don't really want my steak tasting like coffee. Can anyone help?

DD loved her steak, but had to scrape off the rub. She said it was too gritty and bitter. I tasted it and thought the coffee rub and steak went well together, but she was right, it was a bit gritty.

I did not think it had a coffie taste to it at all...it was the best steak I had our whole trip

Will be at Le Cellier in a few weeks and the coffee rubbed KC steak is going to be my choice.........it just sounds good!

DH got the KC Strip but let me have a few bites( I had the veal t-bone). It wasn't really coffee flavored- well, you cuold taste something a little nutty and different but it didn't get in the way of the meat.
However, he and I both wished are meals had a sauce. We are both chefs and wondered why the plates were so plain and looked so thrown together. No garnish, no sauce just meat and side. Does anyone know if this is what they are going for( focusing on great meat with a simple side, no frills) or is it some other reason? We were going to ask our server but it was getting late and everyone was trying to close.

I had it a couple of months ago. I agree with the other posters in that it is a bit gritty, but it didn't detract from the overall experience. I thought the taste was a bit 'burnt' (but not in a bad way, it's the only way I can think of describing it!)

The side of mash is very nice as well!

I have also had the mushroom fillet there and prefer the kansas steak over that. The salt crusted prime rib is also a very nice option if you are a fan of salt!!

Where can I find a menu from Le cellier? the one I have seen did not have this steak on it.

My husband had it last week and said it was the best sdteak of the trip. Better then Cali Grill or Yachtsman. He did not like the potatoes through and wishes he would have sub cream cheese mashed. I tasted it and wished I got it over the filet.

I dunno what y'all are talkin' about. DH ordered the strip and I had the filet, and we both agreed that the filet (and that heavanly risotto) blew the strip out of the water. THOUGH, the strip was good...just nowhere near as good as the filet.
