OMG I hope this "pilot" menu will "take off" at other locations as well. I'd happily NOT pick the most expensive menu item if I were able to get an appetizer instead! Keeping my fingers crossed!!!! THANKS!
The choice for the dining plan guest is whether or not you want that appetizer badly enough to give up the $35 steak to get it - assuming you wanted the $35 steak to begin with. For basic dining plan users, this pilot menu is not about the entree - you could get the entree anyway - it's about the appetizer.
We use the basic ddp, but I'd rather have the filet (assuming they'll make it without the mushrooms, can't handle those) and pay the $6-7 for the cheese soup. I think this is a good option for those who would rather have one of the entrees on the pilot menu, though.
That is exactly what I thought when I first heard of it, they get you to order a less expensive entree and offer you an appetizer of soup which costs very little . It's Disney marketing at it's best!
