Just sharing this information with people that might be interested. While we were at Le Cellier on 9/7, they told us about a pilot program they are trying where you can get an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert as one Regular DDP credit, but you can only pick from certain choices (i.e. no $35 steak entree).

I took a blurry picture of the menu:

Choose one from each category (no substitutions):

Appetizers
Mixed Field Greens
Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup
Spicy Chicken and Chipotle Sausage

Entrees
Pan-seared King Salmon
Herb-crusted Prime Rib
Porcini Mushroom Ravioli
Mustard-basted All Natural Chicken

Desserts
Maple Creme Brulee
Canadian Chocolate Moose
Seasonal Sorbet

We were at Le Cellier last night and the "pilot program" allows you to pick an appetizer, entree and dessert from their list of choices (as identified in your photo), not from any part of the menu. By the way, the chedder cheese and bacon soup was fair at best.

Completely agree! The rest of the meal was delicious, but the soup was far, far too salty-tasting for me.

Verrrrrrrrrry interesting!

I wonder if Disney is finally listening to the suggestions made by so many on the DIS that they create a special menu for the dining plan instead of removing high-end items from the menu.

Did you get a separate menu anywhere else?

No separate menus elsewhere. I am guessing they had it for Le Cellier to try and get people to stop ordering the $35 steak on the regular DDP. :rotfl:

I wasn't planning on ordering steak (I'm not a big red-meat eater), so it worked out for me. I wanted to try the soup and eat the chicken. The soup wasn't great though, glad I didn't pay OOP for it. :(

This would be a great thing if WDW decided to implement it at all their 1 credit T.S. restaurants.

Dare I say the other part of the DDP that's hard to swallow is tipping on such inflated prices, none (in our experience this trip) as inflated as Le Cellier.

I like it!! I am all for this change....now people can have their app like they wanted...Yea for us and good job disney!

We were there Sept 2nd and were shown the same menu. We talked to the server a bit and he said they were the ONLY restaurant offering a special DDP menu.
Sorry, but we did not ask if this was a pilot for others to follow. It was just nice to have a 3 course meal even if the choices were limited.
If you stick to the main course and dessert rule of the DDP, you are allowed to order off their regular menu!

Interesting. DW and I were at Disney Paris in July and their meal plan, called the Half Board Plan, used a similar pre-planned menu. You could, however, still order off the regular menu. I wonder if this is the future of all DDPs?

I would rather have a great steak/entree and good dessert than have cheap/ sub par app, entree, and dessert any day... A lot of people have complained about things leaving menus just wait till this garbage of a deal catches on..

Regular DDP
remember great( 1 app, 1 entree and 1 dessert) plus tip DDP2005,6,7
remember some great (1 entree and 1 dessert) no tip DDP2008
theory: IN the future "2009 - 10" a couple good (1 entree and 1 dessert) no tip or Sub Par meal deals in (apps, entrees and dessert) combos, no tip
theory: 2010 to x : Different menus for all DDP and Sub Par meal deals in (apps, entrees and dessert) combos, no tip

sounds pretty good to me :rotfl:

Hi! :goodvibes Thank you for sharing! Can I ask how the chicken was? Was it boneless chicken breast by chance? TIA! :flower3:

As of now, basic DDP guest can still order off the regular menu, but without the appetizer.

I chose that at Le Cellier (lunch) because I really wanted to try the cheddar cheese soup. It worked out because the options given were perfect for lunch.

Tutto Italia's prices are a bit absurd as well.

I couldn't believe Tutto was 1 TS credit.

There is a bone at the very end (you can see in the picture, it is sticking up) but there was very little-to-no meat on it, so there was no reason to even touch it or get close to it. The rest of the breast was boneless. I am a picky eater, I wouldn't have eaten it if I had to pick around bones. :)

You can read my review of LC here: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1948898

I thought the chicken was amazing, the flavor was cooked through the whole meat. You could taste it in every bite, it wasn't like the flavor was just coated on top of the skin.

But they're NOT cheap/sub-par offerings. Every item on the "Pilot Menu" is on the regular menu. The exact same item. The "Pilot Menu" allows Guests on the Dining Plan to get an entree under the DDP, but it's also available to out of pocket Guests.

The exact same menu items. Le Cellier didn't create new (cheap/sub-par) choices for this menu. They are offering items from the existing general menu.

They are, however, among the least expensive entrees on the regular menu. I agree I wouldn't consider them sub-par in this particular instance. The choice for the dining plan guest is whether or not you want that appetizer badly enough to give up the $35 steak to get it - assuming you wanted the $35 steak to begin with. For basic dining plan users, this pilot menu is not about the entree - you could get the entree anyway - it's about the appetizer.

I'd also assume there is a bit of a savings to the out of pocket guest who orders the price fix menu - but I certainly haven't done the math on that.
