Does it usually get quieter at LC by 8:30? My DH & I had such a nice, romantic meal at Le Bistro last month that I keep second guessing our decision to go to LC next month instead. We decided to give it another try now that it's a signature restaurant. I'm afraid it's going to be loud & chaotic, basically the opposite of LB. I made an ADR for 8:30 hoping most people will be leaving soon after that to see Illuminations. Do you think that will help? TIA for the input. I don't think I've ever 2nd guessed an ADR this much.

We have been there once at 8:00pm and it was fine. We usually go there on our anniversary and ask to be seated somewhere quiet. We have not ever had a dinner there that was overly distracting by noise at least to us. You should be fine at 8:30 and you are right about people leaving to get their early stakeout seating for Illum.

We are lucky enough to eat at Le Cellier every trip. While the food is awesome, the restaurant isn't known for the "romance" factor. The tables are spaced very close together. So it is quite likely your conversation can be overheard. There are only the 2 of us & we are usually seated at a small table for 2. We often have people at the next table comment on our meals or make small talk. We were once unfortunate enough to be seated near what appeared to be a large extended family. Probably 12- 14 people, many of them kids, all VERY loud. As you would expect, our meal wasn't relaxing, let alone romantic.

Because the place is so small & always packed , asking to be moved to a different table would probably mean a longer wait. And I have never sen it empty out for Illuminations. We have had late ADRs pretty often, even leaving after Illuminations was over. The place was still full.

I don't mean to discourage or scare you. We love Le Cellier for the food. But we go knowing it's not a quiet, dark, relaxing, romantic place.

Yep, have to agree that Le Cellier is not famous for it's romantic atmosphere. Go for the food, not for the 'romance'.

Thanks for the feedback. We have been to LC several times, but it's been years. I remember how crowded & loud it was, which is why we were hoping an 8:30 pm ADR would help. It sounds like we're not the only people who don't mind missing Illuminations. ;) We'll try asking for a quieter area. I'm fine with waiting as long as we need to in attempt to have a nicer meal.

We had a very similar experience as a party of 2. Small table right next to a very large party. Barely enough space to pass between our table and theirs. I wouldn't pick LC for romance. If you are not concerned about IllumiNations, might I suggest leaving the park completely and heading to AKL to Jiko. I believe that is my vote for most romantic dinner on property. Our first meal there, we were seated next to the window by the stream. Lighting is subdued, food is fantastic, beautiful decor, wait staff is well-trained and accomodating. Can you tell that I love that place?
