I want to buy a 40" Samsung, but ive been really really contemplating on if i should get 40,000:1 instead of the 30,000:1. Would i see the difference? its like $300 more for an higher contrast.

you will see the difference and it is definately worth it.

At 40", I doubt the contrast difference will be as noticeable. Though there may be other qualitative differences between the sets that make the more expensive set worth it (generally there is, these days). Which two televisions are you considering?
