Having staying on I Drive last year and also for out Sept trip this year, next year we thought we might try LBV.

I was hoping some of you experts could give me some advice as to what are the best hotels to stay in. At the moment we are looking at Fairfield by Marriott and Shearaton Safari. Would appreciate it if someone could give their views on these hotels or recommend any other hotels in the LBV area.

One more thing, the reason we like I Drive is because after a long day a WDW we can just go back to our hotel and venture out as there are lots of restaurants within walking distance (Chilli's, Darryls and Tony Romas being family favouriates). Do you get such a good selection of restaurants within a safe walking distance (max 15 min) of any of the hotels mentioned above.

One more thing, are there any evening activites in LBV like crazy golf etc.

Many thanks for your help.

LBV isnt so pedestrian friendly as I-Drive, though there are a few places to choose from. The crossroads area has a Pirates Cove mini Golf, plus a Goodings supermarket (albeit outrageously expensive!) as well as TGI Fridays, Jungle Jims etc. There is also a Chilis, Macaroni Grill and a Sizzler (not at Crossroads) which would probably be in walking distance. The better restaurants in LBV though (Bahama Breeze, Outback etc) you would need to reach by car as they are situated some distance from the hotels you mentioned.

We have stayed at the Sheraton Safari. Great location and it was an OK hotel. If you can get it at a reasonable price then I would recommend it (its waaaaay overpriced in the Virgin brochure though!).

Bit of a newbie to both here and Orlando (booked my first trip for next May :cool1: ), but after doing hours and hours of research we finally decided on Courtyard by Marriott in the Marriott village @ LBV. From what I can gather, this is part of the same complex of one of the hotels you mentioned, the Fairfield Inn (although I do know that there are a few hotels all with the same name  ). If it is the same place then I have found out that you are in fact just next door to both Bahamas Breeze and Golden Corral, and it is just a 10-15 walk to the crossroads area.

If this info is wrong, I do apolosise, but this is what I have found out, although it is not first hand :rolleyes1

We stayed in the Comfort Inn, LBV. The hotel was fine but, unfortunately, it was very close to the I4. The traffic noise was loud and constant. We had a pool view which also meant an I4 view. Some people have got a car park view and not been troubled by the noise but you cannot guarantee getting placed in one of these rooms.

There were other hotels on the same stretch of road that backed on to the I4. If noise is a problem for you it may be worth your investigating exactly where the hotels are situated.

Agree with Wicket about the Comfort Inn - good position, reasonable facilities and overall fair value on offer, but ask for car lot/park side room to avoid I4 noise.

I recently stayed at the Springhall Suites by Marriott.

Very nice accomodation. The room was very clean with a small kitchenette (sink, fridge, microwave and coffee machine).

The restaurant only serves breakfast but there was a very good selection of pastries, fruit, rolls, muffins, yoghurts and waffle bar and and juices/coffee. It was free when I stayed so I was able to eat a large breakfast and then take danish pastries and juice upto the room to leave in the fridge for later.

pool area was nicely laid out and of a good size with a pool bar

There is a food court shared by the three suite properties in the complex (pizza, burgers, salads etc + coffee shop)

All in all a good place to stay and thoroughly recommended.

ps only a short (by British standards) walk to the Premium shopping outlet where you can shop til you drop and I believe the I-drive tram picks up here
so you can get to Internationl drive without a car.

Hope this helps

Gary

Don't forget the Winn Dixie supermarket, just up the road from the Sheraton Safari.
Better prices than Goodings :goodvibes

I'd also take a look at the new Holiday Inn, Hotel Plaza Blvd, which is both walking distance to Downtown Disney and Crossroads (about 10 minutes, pedestrian friendly). It's currently closed (and has been for a while) for major renovations and to repair hurricane damage. Used to be the Courtyard by Marriott.

2 pools, hot tub, 1 bar, atrium based - I'm guessing it will open in a month or 2 and I'd assume therefore that everything would look pretty new when you are planning to make your visit.
