Lazy rivers in water parks

This past August we went to both Disney water parks for the first time. I have to admit I was very unimpressed with the lazy rivers. We have gone numerous times to aquatic (seaworld water park) and that lazy river is absolutely awesome. My biggest gripe was that the water was sooo low. I am 5'3" and it was not even up to my waist. They were very boring IMO. My kids did really enjoy the slides though.

Yes, I realize that but they were very slow and boring. Nothing exciting. After trying Aquatica's "lazy" river, it was just so much more fun and it was evident that people were truly having fun on Aquatica's as opposed to Disney's. Not putting down Disney, just saying the lazy rivers are super boring.

Aquatica's lazy river is amazing (especially the one without floats). All others pale in comparison. I thought Disney's was nice and long though

Yes, I realize it is a "lazy" river but maybe my expectations were high after acquatica's lazy river. Actually acquatica's doesn't even give you floats, just lifejackets if you want, it just takes you away. Really a fun attraction. Just thought Disney's would be fun and just found it overly boring.

I find WDW's lazy rivers to be pretty typical. I enjoy them. But I hear such good things about Aquatica's that I can imagine it being easy to complain.

Okay, just to be clear which of the two lazy rivers in Aquatica are you comparing it to.Aquatica has a smaller traditional lazy river that is also mixed in to the entrance of their bowl slides, meaning that you enter it to either get a yellow tube to ride the slides or you get the clear tube to just enjoy the lazy river. This one does have a section where you go through and see the tropical fish aquarium and another area where you see the people sliding through the dolphin slide and you see the commersons dolphins. This is all cool but if this is the lazy river you're comparing it to in my opinion it doesn't come close to the much larger and highly themed lazy rivers at both Disney water parks. Now if you're talking about the "fast" lazy river at Aquatica called Roas Rapids then yes that might be the best attraction at any water park in Florida. Its not a lazy river as everyone floats along at a good speed and at certain spots the jets of water just zip you along. No tubes on this river but people wear life vests. My point is that when comparing the true lazy rivers Disneys are great, the fast lazy river at Aquatica is a different thing,is it better than the lazy rivers at Disney, yes but its not the same attraction.

The one I am comparing it to, is the one where there are NO tubes. They call it a lazy river but it's fast and you go into it with/without a lifejacket and it just takes you away. To be honest, it was probably the best water ride I have ever experienced. Really enjoyed it and it was great for people who don't go on the big slides.

I'm sure Roa's Rapids is awesome (and seems to be nothing lazy about it from the Aquatica's site description and yours) and I look forward to trying Aquatica out some day...but the attraction you describe is very different from the rivers at both WDW water parks which are wonderful for what they are...Lazy rivers. That would be like me comparing Revenge of the Mummy to BTMRR.

I was unimpressed with Mickey bars at the waterparks... Much better at Epcot...i was too "lazy" to notice the "lazy" river. I wonder how the Mickey bars are at SeaWorld.

Roas Rapids is not a lazy river at all and it is not advertised as one. So you can't really compare to a regular lazy river. Sea worlds actual lazy river is just that slow and you have to be in a tube (its the one near the big bowl like slide that requires tubes).

Lazy rivers are meant to be slow and relaxing and you float around in a tube.

Yes, and personally I wish they'd enforce the use of a tube. It ruins my laziness when the groups of teens (or others sometimes) come crashing, splashing, running, and diving along on foot, pushing and splashing those in the tubes. And most disturbingly, swimming UNDER me. It always makes me nervous that some kid will get trapped under a group of tubes and drown. I wish Disney (and really all waterparks) would enforce use of tubes in the river.

The lazy rivers at a Disney water park are intended to be a slow , qiuet, relaxing tube ride. Which they do quite nicely around the parks.

The other river you are refering to is a thrill ride, no tubes, lots of bouncing around.

Your comparing apples and oranges.

Roas Rapids is fun. I never really thought of it as a lazy river. Every time I go to Aquatica it makes me wish I was at a Disney waterpark. Aquatica is fun for a few hours but we can spend days and days at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach.

Agreed!!

I used to go to this waterpark as a kid, its only attractions at the time were a lazy river (some people used tubes, some didn't) and 4 similar waterslides. But it still was fun. Haven't been to either of these though
